The Riga Zoo is located in the Riga suburb Mežaparks - a pine forest on the shores of Lake Ķīšezers. Behind the entrance gate, built in 1912, there are more than 3,000 animals from various different continents.
Maybe it's a nice day for the zoo? The neighborhood called Mežparks (the forest park) is also home to some beautiful turn of the century wooden houses. Great for a bike ride!

The Riga City Zoo - a compact Zoo with a long heritage. It will be at least 2-hour walk. The ticket is 6 EUR for grown-ups. The opening time differs by season, but it's mainly from 10:00 to 18:00. Take the tram 11 in the direction to Mezaparks. No dogs allowed. When I was there last, there was no good spot to eat, take your own sandwiches. Don't go there by car, you will have a trouble finding a parking. The tram is the best choice.
