In the middle of Alkmaar you can visit the Waag. The place where during the summer months on Friday morning is the cheese market. We have the kissing point with the cheese girl and a lot of restaurants and shops.

This is the square where the old cheese market will take place every Friday morning at 10am-13pm. Definitely worth a visit if you like cheese or historic traditions! :)

Go for the potato and cheese soup, stay for the cosy terrace that offers the ideal people-watching spot. (Potato and cheese soup = Aardappel soep met oude kaas)
