There are many lovely walks nearby. Blue Springs in Putaruru, 40 mins. Sanctuary Mt Maungatautari, 35 mins and 10 mins from Lake Karapiro and Cambridge with amazing eateries.

Close to Waitomo Caves, good stop off on way to Mt Ruapehu and 45 mins from Hamilton.
