We felt so welcomed at Joya Escondida. The landscape is stunning, the suite has all you need, and best of all, the hosts, John and Robert, are such welcoming and friendly people. We felt right at home. Wine on the rooftop in the evening and margaritas on the stunning white sand beach in the afternoon. Perfect visit and without a doubt, we will be back.
My fiancee and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at John's Airbnb. It is only 50 yards or so to the beach from the rental unit. The rental's size is fairly large. We were concerned about not having an air conditioner, but one was not needed as the strong breeze from the ocean kept the unit cool. John and Robert were so kind and accommodating. Although the area is a bit remote, we felt very safe and well taken care of. Overall, John's place is an amazing value. Make sure to eat a meal or two at the Mayan Garden Inn which is just another mile up the road. The food is excellent and well-priced.
John and Robert were wonderful, relaxed hosts! We would definitely stay there again. The access to the beach was remarkable. Finding conches was incredibly special! Take note that this a very remote location. Make sure to fill up gas before you head out there. Make sure you are stocked up on your groceries beforehand as well. We loved the remoteness but trying to eat/shop in Mahahual right after you showed up would be a bummer.
It is a wonderful place but they only have solar power and when it rains there is no power. So I spent Christmas with no electricity, no fans, no hot water, or internet. It needs to be mentioned that sometimes you have electricity and sometimes you do not.
