We went for a family Thanksgiving weekend get-a-way. Upon arrival we found several dead roaches and one of the downstairs bathroom floor was filthy. Hot tub was cold, not even enough water in it to use, and the top wouldn’t stay on bc the wind kept blowing it off. The shape it’s in…I wouldn’t expect to use it EVER. No can opener, only one small oven sheet pan. We were a little disappointed in these things considering what you pay to stay and pay in cleaning fees.

Pros: This home was updated from when we booked the Airbnb. They had painted the wood paneling, replaced the upstairs flooring, provided new living room furniture and new living room ceiling fans. We sincerely appreciated those updates. The proximity to the beach, local restaurants, farmers market and Cape Hatteras was amazing. We enjoyed the view of the dunes from the front porch, and the direct pathway to the water. All appliances, air conditioning, hot tub and technology functioned properly all week. The unit was ready earlier than 6pm, and they allowed us to access it around 3pm when it had been cleaned. Cons: We felt when the renovations were done there were several items that could have been taken care of then that would have improved the unit significantly. The first would be a larger fridge. There is space for a 36” fridge, which would allow for more groceries. The current 30in fridge could not hold a week’s worth of groceries plus beverages. The fridge also did not have an ice maker. We had to buy ice each day and keep a lot of our groceries we brought with us in coolers. The exhaust fans in the bathroom make high pitch screaming noise, so we didn’t use them. It appears not using the fans it’s causing moisture issues in the ceiling and doors. While the unit was cleaned and we had fresh sheets and the counters were wiped when we arrived, we feel it needed a deep clean. There is 1/2 dust on the ceiling fans in the downstairs bedrooms. One of their new ceiling fans cover over the bulbs was broken. There is sand pushed up under the baseboards that needs to be vacuumed out. P traps in bathrooms need to be snaked out as the water drains slowly. Dust and cob webs have gathered on the popcorn ceilings. I don’t believe the ceilings were painted in the renovation, which is fine, but they should be cleaned.

The house was very clean for us. Only 2 floors of living space, but it was very comfortable for our group of 4 adults and 2 toddlers. The hot tub was out of service, but they provided us notice before checkin and provided a partial refund for that missing amenity. Really nice location away from the main road. Overall a solid beach house and vacation!

I will never book another Vacasa property. We showed up to a house that hadn’t been cleaned by check in. Called Vacasa multiple times and were told to just wait, so we waited for 2 hours before finally calling Airbnb. They initiated the refund process that Vacasa was so unwilling to do. Not only was the house filthy but the condition of things was not at all as advertised, many damaged pieces of trim, hot tub was totally non functional, furniture was worn, and on and on. Don’t stay here or with Vacasa at all. Nearly ruined our vacation.

STAY AWAY from this one, we had too many issues that were not resolved, nor had good communication. First, upon arrival, dirty towels and linens from previous party were still there. Found cockroaches, bed bugs in which one of our members got a severe reaction!! Cleanliness was NOT there, nor their priority when it was mentioned. Not to mention, nothing was working!!! TV was broken, hot tub was BROKEN, washing machine was broken. When we communicated with the host, they called for maintenance in which they didn't even know how to fix the TV or hot tub, no one even came for the washer. So no TV, hot tub, or washer for the whole duration of the trip. Lets talk about SECURITY, one of the doors does not lock, it is a simple turning lock that DID NOT LOCK! When mentioned immediately to let the host know, their response was "well you didn't mention it til now so we cant do anything for you" ?!!?! This is a security and privacy concern that may or may not even violate airbnb?? But this was NOT okay! This is owned by a company. If you call them during your stay, expect to call during business hours only to get no help at all. You'll get better chances messaging them through airbnb but expect to get maintenance after 2 days of when you complain, and end up with no resolution. We were all really disappointed and will NOT be coming back to any of the properties owned by this company. So sad and shameful. Look for a house that is privately owned, not with a company. Inconveniences can happen and it is okay when hosts work with you, but with this company, that is NOT the case.
