Ideal for those looking to escape to nature Perfectly located for avid explorers, the Villa is just a 10 minute drive from the beach & the largest natural lake in Crete Including a private pool, relax in our spacious garden away from noise and light pollution - allowing you to have the most relaxing stay. Aptly named after Astraea (goddess of the stars) you will soon understand why! We aim to offer our guests space, privacy and serenity. The house is private, open, clean and equipped to be comfortably lived in. Each bedroom has french doors and a balcony looking out onto the Mediterranean and surrounding landscapes. We have a coffee machine, toaster, microwave, oven and fridgefreezer for all your culinary needs. we also have a TV with chromecast so you can download your favourite series and films or stream your devices to the TV. We also offer unlimited wifi. Wake up early to catch the golden sunrise and stay up on a dark night to see the powerful starry sky. During the day join the local Geckos basking in a full day's sun, relax in our 4.6m x 1.2m large private pool or perch at the bottom of the garden and take in the views, looking out for the incredible Birds of Prey including Golden eagles, falcons and vultures. You can also indulge in local Greek cuisine using the BBQ. Located nearby are the scenic, buzzing towns of Chania and Rethymno as well as Natural hotspots - including the largest natural lake in Crete, Villa Astraea is the perfect base to also explore the best of Crete.

Das Haus war sehr schön, wie beschrieben! Der Ausblick war ein Traum, so wie der Pool. Wir kommen gerne wieder! Gastgeber waren immer erreichbar wenn was war.
Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit in diesem Haus - und vorallem im Garten. Diese Aussicht ist atemberaubend, links die Berge mit Sonnenuntergang, gerade aus die Hafenstadt und Berge an der Bucht, rechts das Meer und abends ein Glitzermeer. Der Pool ist toll, wir haben abends gegrillt und oft auch einfach nur die Aussicht genossen. Es ist sehr privat, ruhig, durch den Wind auch bei Hitze sehr angenehm. Nehmt für abends unbedingt eine Anti-Insekten-Kerze o.ä. mit und wir empfehlen ein Auto vor Ort. Der nächste Supermarkt ist nur 10 Min. den Berg hinunter. Ein Ausflug nach Rethymno dauert so 25 Min. - das Meer liegt quasi vor der Tür. Michael und Lindsey waren immer für uns erreichbar, vielen Dank!

It was really nice place, outside of town, and same time so close with car, good place to relax and chill.
Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit der Unterkunft von Michael und Lyndsey. Vor allem die Aussicht ist wunderschön. Die Wohnung war sauber und gut ausgestattet. Mit dem Auto ist es nicht weit nach Georgioupoli und zum Kournas-See, der sehr schön ist.

From the Villa Garden, you can see down into Georgioupoli; once a small fishing village. It’s picturesque harbour is still in use to support the now bustling village. In the village you will find restaurants ranging from traditional tavernas offering exquisite local cuisine to numerous rooftop modern bars, craft shops, bakery’s, banks, excursion services a petrol station and more.
As you walk out of the centre towards the Sea you will be met with a vast stretch of beach, (the longest beach in Crete in fact!) where you will see the stoned pathway stretching out to St.Nicholas Church, one of Crete’s most scenic spots.
The coast is lined with beach front restaurants and roof top bars, some open until early hours of the morning. As you walk down the beach (or left over the harbour) you will stumble across numerous humble and idyllic beach tavernas. All of these locations are easily accessible by car.
As the house is situated in the hills, we highly recommend renting a car to get around (it is often cheaper to rent a car for a week than one way transport from the airport in a taxi).
Driving through the landscapes and along sea roads is also a great way to experience Crete, with tavernas never too far away to stop off. The majority of roads in Crete are well maintained and there are a number of reputable car hire agencies at the airport which you can book online.
Taxis are available from Georgioupoli/beach for 5-7euros to and from the Villa. In our opinion, the best way to experience Georgioupoli is to pack the car for a full day. Have your beach wear at the ready for whichever spot of beach you desire, and your casual evening clothes so you can go straight into Georgioupoli and enjoy your evening roof top meals whilst the sun sets.
