No. 3 Coastguard Cottage Sleeps 2 adults in a Double Bed with the option of a single and additional pull out bed in an adjoining room for additional guests/children on request. It is a mid terrace, stunning character cottage in the village of Saltfleet, overlooking Haven Bank which leads out to Sea. The cottage has recently been refurbished to a high standard with an open fire, lawned garden to the front and closed courtyard to the back. Ideal for a romantic break with your dogs. The Coastguard Cottages are full of charm and character, lovingly converted to offer comfort and relaxation by the Lincolnshire Coast. Perfect for a couples get away (with your pooch.) Cross over the road and you walk directly onto the beach path taking you out to sea. It’s a lovely walk, alongside where the boats are moored and generally takes 15-20 minutes to reach the beach. The tide is often far out in Saltfleet but it’s a lovely walk out to sea, and although it may take some time, it’s totally worth it (just be sure to check tide time tables.) Walk in the other direction and you will reach the Nature Reserve within a mile. The back courtyard garden is fully secured so you can rest assured that your dogs will be safe, or spend the evening outside enjoying a meal and watching the geese fly overhead. The cottage is one of four terraced houses so neighbours are close by, but they’re a friendly bunch so this shouldn’t impact on your stay. This cosy cottage has a kitchen with all amenities you'll need, a pantry, large lounge with spacious sofas and a TV, porch (a perfect place to store your muddy boots), a bathroom with bath and shower (above the bath), a bedroom with doubled bed and an additional room off the bedroom which (upon request) can be utilised as an additional bedroom. The cottage has relatively steep and narrow stairs so please bear this in mind before booking if this may be an issue for you. We’ve also received feedback that the bath can be a struggle to get into as it’s a slipper bath with a shower over, so please bear this in mind if you have mobility issues. As the cottage has limited space, we would recommend two small or one large well behaved dog. If you're unsure, drop us a message and we 'll happily discuss.
We found the cottage a real home from home. The village was great for walks with our hound and the coast was easily accessible. The weather wasn’t great but the cottage was cosy and a great space to chill out in.
Absolutely great stay, the cottage is beautiful. Very clean and nicely kept, lots of attention to detail and everything you need. Very comfortable, felt right at home. Great location for exploring the area or walking from the door. Lovely views.
Had a lovely stay in Saltfleet at Louise’s cottage. Very peaceful with lovely nearby walks for me and my dog. Pub, petrol station and shop within a five minute walk and beaches nearby. The cottage was cozy and peaceful with a great sun-trap back garden.
We had a fabulous stay at Coastguard Cottage. It was everything that we wanted. It was gorgeous little cottage, old and a bit creaky but it had charm. Louise has taken great care over the presentation and has anticipated visitors requirements. It was clean and comfortable. The area is great for walking, especially with a dog. It did help having stunning weather but we would recommend a stay in Louise 's cottage any time. Thank you Louise.
Saltfleet is a popular village all year round. The village itself hosts 2 pubs, a petrol station with small cafe and onsite shop. All of these are in walking distance.
In the next village of North Somercotes you will find a small Co-op, Spar shop, Chinese Take Away and Italian Restaurant as well as 2 more pubs. Drive a little further inland and you can reach the historic market town of Louth within 20minutes. Sea side resorts such as Mablethorpe are within a 15 minute drive with Skegness only 50minutes and Cleethorpes 40 minutes away. If you wish to take in more of the historical side of Lincolnshire, the city of Lincoln is one hour away where you will find Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle.
Around the middle of October each year, the Grey Seal Colony appear on Donna Nook beach which is approximately 5 miles away. Hundreds of seals land on the beach to birth their pups. It really is a sight to behold and well worth a visit.
Public transport in rural Lincolnshire is limited so if you're planning to venture out of the village a car is advisable.
