We loved our stay at Appletree Cottage, it was a perfect retreat. The accommodation is in a lovely quiet rural location and is full of character and well styled and has everything you need for a comfortable and peaceful stay. We would certainly recommend it to friends and family and hope to return again.

This is a lovely, spacious converted barn in a rural area with a cute village just a 20min walk away. I would say it is more “dogs allowed” rather than “dog friendly” as there’s no secure, enclosed spaces to exercise them, no dog bowls, no dog towels etc. There are pheasants/cats/livestock around too. It was squeaky clean and cosy inside and although there is no tea/coffee/milk for a cuppa on arrival there was some homemade cordial left for us which was very sweet. It’s not super private as you do see people come and go from the farm right behind/attached to you, but it’s generally very quiet. The village is a 20min walk (or 4min drive) and has 2 pubs (one casual and one more fancy), a village store, costcutter and church. It’s lovely to walk the dog down for a drink in the pub then back. We always pack our Amazon Firestick but the barn had a smart TV which was great!

Appletree Cottage is a gem of a place. Myself and my wife (who is disabled), have just spent 2 weeks there. On arrival we were met by Jo who gave us a tour of the property and explained everything that was pertinent, including some great advice on things to do in the area. The open plan kitchen/lounge is superb. The kitchen has everthing needed to cook a full blown meal, was spotless and the lounge seating area is very comfortable with the added bonus of a sofa bed. The main bed was very comfortable and the wet room with a really nice shower was fantastic for my wife. Everything is on one level and no stairs anywhere to negotiate. Nowhere is really within walking distance as it is so isolated but that was exactly what we wanted. If peace, quiet and seclusion is what you want, then I cannot reccomend Appletree Cottage highly enough. Thank you for a lovely 2 weeks.

We booked a last minute get away to Applegate over New Year. Looking for a chance to just sit back, rest and relax. Applegate is rural and with some excellent local walks. The barn is beautifully finished and was very comfortable. Everything we needed we had to hand and we received a warm welcome.
