We stayed over the New year period for some beautiful and some slightly rainy walks. Was great for this. Some great winter walks! We went up Blea tarn and another walk was along the river to The Woolpack and back. We don’t drive so got to the cottage by a the train to Ravenglass for Eskdale and then the steam train ‘Ratty’ to the green and then did all our walks from the cottage. There are some great local pubs in eskdale and boot too. Wainwright has an amazing illustrated book of walks in the area which they also had in the cottage. The cottage was warm and homey with everything we needed in the kitchen. A lovely fire for the evenings which was needed to dry out all our gear! Perfect bathroom for a relaxing bath after a chilly walk and they had some extra board games for an evening in! Couldn’t recommend this get away more. We’ll be back soon.
