Within walking distance of shops, bars, restaurants. Located in the idyllic village of Strangford, Number 42 is a listed self catering property and accommodates up to 5 people. We have been offering self catering at Number 42 since 1996 so you are in safe and experience hands. Number 42 is also approved as a self catering property by the Northern Ireland Tourism authorities. The rate for your holiday is fully inclusive and includes central heating, electric, bed linen and towels. There is a large south facing rear garden which is fully enclosed with an old stone wall including lockable gates. This is ideal for children as they can play without having to leave the premises giving Mum & Dad a well deserved break! There is also ample room to park your car at the bottom of the garden. Along with this there is a BBQ and garden furniture for your use. As Number 42 is situated in the village of Strangford you are within walking distance of shops, bars, restaurants and the harbour with its ferry service to Portaferry. Being so close to the village means that you can enjoy a night out and leave the car at home – safe and sound in the secure parking at the rear of the garden! For you games of Thrones fans Winterfell is a short 20 minute walk away in Castleward estate. Really sorry but no pets.
We had a great weekend in Strangford. Number 42 is a very comfortable and stylish house . We could not have asked for anything better.
Perfect accommodation if you are looking to stay in Strangford - we stayed for a wedding at Old Court Chapel and would definitely recommend for that.
This is a really beautiful property. Very well presented and in a lovely little village. Superb base to explore this wonderful coastal area.
On the Lough
Experience sailing, kayaking, diving, canoeing, bird watching, fishing, kite surfing, windsurfing, boating, and when the weather is right, paddling and swimming! A simple ferry journey is also a must do; let the wind blow the cobwebs away! Ferry departs on the hour and half hour from Strangford until 10.30pm (11pm on Saturdays) or on the quarter past and quarter to the hour from Portaferry until 10.15pm (11.15pm on Saturdays).
Around the Lough
A wealth of family friendly attractions await for kids of all ages to explore! Feed the ducks, hold a starfish, hand paint a piece of pottery, hop on a steam train or simply build a sandcastle. Our land based activities range from challenging golf, adrenalin fuelled motor racing, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, or energy burning cycling and walking. For peace, beauty, tranquillity and family fun, visit Delamont Country Park, situated on the shores of Strangford Lough. Enjoy woodland and countryside walks, open areas for family picnics, BBQ area and games, an outdoor adventure playground, miniature railway and summer events. Stunning views include the Windmill Hill Viewpoint, offering spectacular 360 degree views of Peninsula shores, Drumlins, Mourne Mountains and the Irish Sea as well as the Ballyquintin Viewpoint - the closest viewpoint to the bar mouth of the lough. Climb to the top of Slieve Patrick, taking in the Stations of the Cross as you go, or visit The Saint Patrick Centre in Downpatrick, following the footsteps of Ireland’s patron saint while in St Patrick’s Country. Find hidden gems at the National Trust properties, eccentric contrasting architectural styles at Castle Ward, climb a tree at Rowallane Garden, discover an 18th century village at Kearney, or experience the breath taking views of the Lough, from the family burial ground Tír na nÓg at Mount Stewart. The best way to see the above is by car, or why not cycle!! On your bike take the short ferry crossing from Strangford to Portaferry and cycle around Strangford Lough back to Strangford- it’s only 55 miles with great scenery.
