A luxurious self-contained studio flat located less than 2 kilometres from the stunning Northumberland coastline and approximately 300 metres from Alnmouth railway station. The Snug is a perfect retreat for couples, offering a tranquil and relaxing environment with private stepped access and panoramic views of the coast and countryside and is part of Oxo Cottage, a hidden gem named after an Oxo TV commercial filmed at the property in the 1950s. Living room/bedroom: Enjoy the spacious and bright living area featuring a king-sized bed fitted with a natural mattress (medium firmness), Egyptian cotton sheets and four luxurious goose-down pillows. There are two comfortable armchairs, nested coffee tables, a chest of drawers, and a wall-mounted adjustable smart TV. The room is also equipped with USB sockets and a smart heating system providing you with independent control of the room temperature. Bathroom: The private bathroom features a powerful walk-in shower, sumptuous white towels, and luxury shower gel and hand soap. Kitchenette: The kitchenette is equipped with a sink, combination microwave, a silent mini-fridge, kettle, toaster, ironing board and iron, essential crockery, cutlery and utensils. There is also a hanging rail for clothes. Exterior: The private south-facing decked area is equipped with a table and two chairs and offers views of the sea and rolling countryside and occasional steam locomotive charging up the east coast. This is also an ideal spot for stargazing on a winter's night.

Duncan’s place was luxurious, from the towels and crisp bedding, to the kitchen appliances and even the light bulb. No expense has been spared. The apartment was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed, and perfectly positioned for our exploration of Northumberland . Duncan’s recommendations for eating out were great places, we weren’t disappointed . Finally, we felt spoilt by all the goodies Duncan had left us - very generous and much appreciated .

We had a wonderful stay at Duncan’s place it was immaculately clean, beautifully decorated and kitted out to a very high standard. Duncan has thought of everything you need for a luxury stay,the extra touches were lovely. A perfect location for exploring Northumberland we will definitely stay again.

Excellent place to stay. We loved the view across the fields to Alnmouth and the sea. The attention to detail could not be beaten. The kitchen is very compact, with excellent use of space. Everything provided was to a very high standard, from loo roll to bedding, and all the beuaitful treats left for us. We mananged with the mini fridge combined with a cool bag we had brought with us, and Duncan was very happy to re-freeze these for us. Duncan was a very responsive communicator, and although our entrance was at the back of their house, Duncan left us to our privacy but was always happy to help. Highly recommended stay - with Alnmouth and Alnwick on the doorstep - plus a great trip to the Farne Islands to see the puffins only a 30-minute drive away.

I would highly recommend a stay at Duncan’s place. His communication was always very prompt and check in very easy. The place was spotlessly clean and tidy. The kitchen was really well equipped and very well thought out. Duncan was very generous and provided breakfast supplies and some arrival goodies which was very kind. The house is in beautiful surroundings with the sea in the distance and well located between many popular places to explore in Northumberland. Would definitely return! Thanks for a great stay.

Bilton is a pretty hamlet next to Alnmouth railway station and the beautiful Northumberland coastline. It is also close to a range of popular tourist attractions.
Alnwick: The historic market town of Alnwick lies approximately 4km from Bilton and offers visitors an eclectic mix of shops and restaurants.
Alnwick Gardens: The Alnwick Gardens, designed by Jacques Wirtz, offers a range of attractions throughout the year including a Grand Cascade water feature, Taihaku Cherry Orchard, Treehouse restaurant and Lilidorei fantasy play park (opening 2023).
Alnwick Castle: This striking medieval castle lies on the edge of Alnwick town centre and offers a range of visitor attractions, including broomstick training and archery. The castle has also featured in two Harry Potter films.
Alnmouth: The coastal village of Alnmouth lies approximately 1.7km away and offers a selection of shops, restaurants and access to a beautiful beach. Please be aware that parking spaces are limited during peak periods.
Northumberland Coastal Path: The Northumberland Coastal Path lies a short distance from Bilton (approx 0.7km) and provides access to a glorious stretch of coastline, including unspoilt beaches and magnificent castles.
Edlingham Castle: Edlingham Castle is a popular tourist attraction featuring a precarious leaning tower. The castle also appeared in promotional posters for the Hobbit film 'An Unexpected Journey'.
Aln Valley Railway: The Aln Valley Railway is a heritage project that aims to restore rail services between Alnwick and Alnmouth. The organisers currently offer steam services on selected days between Alnwick and Greenrigg, the latter of which is within walking distance from Bilton.
Dark Skies/Northern Lights: Northumberland is stargazer’s delight with low light pollution and stunning night skies.
