Firehouse One is in the center of a lively city scene, within walking distance of over 200 specialty shops, restaurants, and galleries located in the Front Street, Old Town, West End, and Warehouse Districts of Traverse City. We are located in the Historic part of the Central Business District, which is essentially the very center Downtown TC.
The Firehouse One Building is immediately next to My Secret Stash and the Omelette Shop on Cass St.. We are kitty corner from The Town Plaza, one of the best breakfast joints in town. Our building has street frontage on Cass St. and alley frontage between Front Street and State St. The corner of Front and Cass is widely considered the center of Downtown just a couple hundred feet to the North. This is the corner where we place our community Christmas tree and host the annual Cherry Drop Event on New Years Eve.
Just across the main drag is West Grand Traverse Bay's Clinch Park and Marina. Clinch Park is where most of the bigger local festivals like Cherry Festival and outdoor concerts take place. At the beach pavilions at Clinch Park, you can find water-sports rentals, a splash pad and play area for kids, a food concession, and the beautiful Clinch Park Beach. Volleyball courts and a more lively beach scene are a block further west at West End Beach.
Firehouse One is also conveniently located near multiple bends of the Boardman/Onaway River, which has several public access sites and boardwalks nearby. It is a great place to go on a walk to explore or to go fishing, especially when the salmon are running. We have so many other great parks nearby like American Legion Park, Hannah and Lay Park, and the new Rotary Park, which hosts free shows for the community like the Community Orchestra.
Downtown Traverse City has long been a regional hub for entertainment in Northern Michigan. We often have events and shows at the City Opera House next door or at the new venue “The Alluvion” just around the Corner. They host smaller and more intimate events and shows. We have a great local theater at The Old Town Playhouse, which is only a five minute walk away.
If you are an outdoor enthusiast, there is plenty to explore in the area. You can bike the Boardman Loop or TART trail or hike one of the many hiking trails in the area. The village at Grand Traverse Commons has a few hundred acres of hilly wooded terrain with hiking and biking trails just west of Downtown. Of course we have the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Park in Leelanau County, which was voted the most beautiful place in America a few years ago.
In addition to East and West Grand Traverse Bays, we are also within close proximity to Long Lake, Cedar Lake, Lake Leelanau and Silver Lake. These are all great options to get outside and enjoy time on the water just minutes away! Old Mission and Leelanau Peninsulas are both well known for their picturesque views and popular award-winning wineries. You can book a wine tour or take the scenic drives yourself!

The Firehouse One Building is in the center of Downtown Traverse City with walking access to many shops, restaurants, breweries, beaches, and historical landmarks. Included in your rental is one parking space in the private parking lot just across Cass Street from our building. There are numerous options for public and transportation nearby. BATA bus has several stops and even a main station downtown and UBER and LIFT are available as well.
Unless you are exploring the parks, lakes and trails, you don’t even need a vehicle. Paddle TC at Clinch Park rents bicycles a couple blocks away. Once you park you can really walk just about everywhere downtown. For guests with more than one vehicle we offer the option of additional parking spots for rent that are also conveniently located directly across the street. Alternative overnight parking options are available in the public parking decks nearby, the more convenient of the two being the Hardy Parking Garage at 303 E State Street. It is a five-minute walk from the building.
