Shelter Cove remains one of the most secluded places on the coast. It may take some extra effort to get here, but it's definitely worth it. Shelter Cove does not have public transportation or ride sharing. All major amenities are within walking distance.
Nearby amenities include Gyppo Brewery and Restaurant is right down the street (4 min walk), Shelter Cove RV Campground store and Deli (0.25 mile), Shelter Cove General Store (2.3 mile), Delgada Pizza and Bakery (4 min drive, 18-minute walk), Venezuelan Restaurant (4 min drive, 17 min walk). Scenic nearby destinations include Cape Mendocino Lighthouse (5-minute walk), Black Sands beach (5 min drive, 20-minute walk).
Feel like driving a little further and seeing more of Humboldt County? Avenue of the Giants is a historic drive along the world-famous Redwood trees, some of which over 1000 years old. You can also drive through a Redwood Tree at the Myers Flat drive-thru tree. Visit the historic Benbow Inn for a fancy dinner just about one hour from Shelter Cove.
Shelter Cove is one of the Most Under Used Fishing Spots in California with Some of the Best Variety of Fishing: Albacore, Halibut, Salmon, Rock cod, Lingcod, Crab and more!!! There are charter fishing boats with unique experience offered in Shelter Cove as well as boat ramp and fish cleaning station.

Getting to Shelter Cove is a challenge and an adventure by itself but definitely worth it.
Driving South on Scenic Highway 101, take the Shelter Cove/Redway Exit 642 to Redway.
From South on Scenic Highway 101 take the Garberville exit to Redway.
From Redway, follow Briceland Road all the way to Shelter Cove. (Approximately 23 miles.).
The road from Redway to Shelter Cove is a winding country drive which passes through the Kings Range Mountains and many miles of beautiful forest. You will want to give yourself plenty of time to make this drive during the daylight, especially during rainy or foggy weather. Always watch for deer and other wildlife.
