This small, private house is on 47 acres, encompassing meadows, woods and a pond. It lies on the other side of a would-be orchard from the main house and next what has been a cattle field. Rabbits and deer abound. Sometimes you can see a wild turkey. Depending on the season, you can hear whippoorwills or Bobwhites. In a wet Spring, the Peepers make a din. During the summer, the bullfrogs in the pond croak loudly in the evening.
Right down the road is downtown Cartersville, with a unique general store, known as Spanky's. It has Everything, including the barber, Spanky. The even closer Citgo, known to everyone as the Country Corner, has hamburgers, fried chicken, morning coffee and a host of other food and drink.
The James River is just a ten minute drive for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. If you are lucky enough to be here in May you can catch the annual Duck Race or the James River Batteau festival (June) that camps in Cartersville by the river every year.
Close neighboring businesses are The Wishing Well Vineyard and the Chickenwire Guesthouse recording studio. Several wedding venues are nearby, including Clover Forest and Fine Creek. Soon the Cobb Creek Reservoir, just up the road) will be open for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and sailing. Bear Creek State Park is also a popular stop.
Washington, DC, Williamsburg, and Virginia Beach (Atlantic Ocean) are less than three hours away.
