Such a picturesque location. Deer and wild turkeys were daily visitors. Spectacular star viewing at night and so very quiet and relaxing. Be prepared for a long drive on gravel road though. Worth the drive!

The cabin was perfect. David is a terrific host who responded to my incessant messages instantly. The deer were our favorite extra in the space, coming to the pond all day. The location is peaceful and perfect for a get away.

Our goal was twofold, firstly, to find a place near our friends who were camping close by in the Manzano Mountains State Park and secondly, to drive together with them to the opening weekend of the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta (which was a bit further than I had anticipated...about a 1.5 hr drive). It wasn't until we got to Thunderbird Cabin and had a chance to settle in that we realized what a gem this place is. Together with the town of Mounatainair, the cabin is worthy of a trip unto itself. Forget about the city! Bring a couple of books and come here to stay put and recharge. It is lovely and peaceful! We had a chance to explore the town of Mountainair and we met the most wonderful locals there. Although we never got to meet David, our host, he responded quickly to any question we asked. And checking in and out couldn't have been easier!
