I'd booked to stay in a tent provided by the host as indicated by the listing, however on arrival this was not the case. You need to take your own, which isn't what I thought I had paid for plus I didn't have one with me! HOWEVER, Sharon was very apologetic and very accommodating. She sent her son out to get one and gave me a drink on the house. All the staff were really friendly, and the food in the pub was really good. The place is in an absolutely beautiful setting and so so quiet and peaceful

The folk running the Inn and the part time staff in particular are friendly and helpful. The bar areas was simple, pleasant, and the continental breakfast fine as was the usual type of bar meals. I was camping in a dome tent that turned out to be a tepee, the lilo was good and i was given 2 sleeping bags for me to help with the need for warmth. The tepee has seen better days but it was adequate. The small area for camping could have been idyllic but was it was not, very run down, unpleasant, unkempt - the 2 outdoor camping loos were full and unusable [fortunately I had brought along my own camping loo] and the rest of the small site was full of detritus; the small derelict caravan housed about 16 chickens - garbage bags were stacked up by the back door. The indoor bathroom was basic and had lots of hot water, access was from 8 am. It was such a shame as there were obviously ideas to make this camping area much better and I felt the landlord and his wife were doing their utmost since taking over a year ago, as were the lovely part time staff - but the challenges facing them were tough so I am commenting reluctantly. I would say for one night stopover the campsite would be adequate depending on how extensive the chicken poo becomes. I had booked for 6 nights and I had to retreat after 4 nights as it was such an unpleasant outdoor area. Of course the Ettrick Valley is really lovely, very peaceful, lots of birds, greenfiches, raptors all around and the Inn is beautifully situated there. I think the rooms in the Inn would be much better and the loos in the entrance hall area were spotless, so perhaps in time things will improve outside. Very much hope so.

Amazing views, very relaxing drive up there. Lots of walks around, very friendly staff! Very cosy place to stay and will be returning!

A very spacious tent to stay. I went to stay in this lovely tent with my 12 years old son to experience what it is like to sleep in a tent. The owner of Tushielaw Inn was so kind and provided us 2 air beds and sleeping bags. It was very comfortable. The place is surrounded by great nature to explore.

Fantastic place, very friendly staff and out in rural Scotland, great place to unwind! We well be back.
