What a lovely house for a family. We had both good and rainy weather. This house made it comfortable to be inside on the rainy days. It also was a nice place to spend the evenings after dinner in quaint Leesburg.
Deanna's cottage was exactly what we needed for our ladies getaway! Adorable location, well equipped and organized. The perfect spot for walking around quaint Leesburg. We felt right at home!
This is a beautiful location in the historical district of Leesburg. It is close to all the restaurants and sites and walkable. It’s a great place to stay. I totally recommend it.
Our stay at this cute little house in Leesburg, VA was perfect for our work trip. The cozy atmosphere and charming decor made it feel like a home away from home. Plus, its convenient location made getting to our meetings a breeze. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Leesburg!
Deanna and her husband Stu were very responsive and helpful. The weather was unusually cold during our January stay and, as it is an older home, we experienced some difficulties adjusting the temperatures upstairs and down. But they gave immediate help and fixed the problem. We enjoyed our stay.
Vinegar Hill neighborhood is steps away from the heart of historic Leesburg. This street has a fascinating story and the nearby homes vary in age but it's a nice quiet street even with it being so close to shopping, dining and grocery options. The history of the name Vinegar Hill is that in about 1890, two barrels of cider on a wagon driven by Joe Waters and a Mr. Myers fell off and broke on a ride up the South Street (the next street over) rise from Harrison Street. The smell, driven by prevailing westerly winds, lasted for weeks, bestowing the name Vinegar Hill upon the rows of houses along South and Royal Streets.
The Wharf was the name for the pre-1985 Market Station area around Harrison and South streets and Depot Court. It was Leesburg’s main commercial and industrial hub, dating from 1860 when the railroad, then the Alexandria, Loudoun & Hampshire, reached town.* This Market Station area is now where there are dining, brewery and grocery options--right down the street!

Accessed off of Harrison Street, Vinegar Hill Cottage is on the right as you drive up Royal Street. We have street parking right in front of the cottage with room for two small to mid-sized cars. Royal Street runs parallel between Loudoun and South Streets. You can walk everywhere in downtown Leesburg from the cottage!
As you head down Royal, enjoy Market Station across Harrison where you'll find Fireworks (wood-fired pizza), Tuscarora Mill Restaurant (fine dining), South Street Deli, Neighbors (local market), Crooked Run Brewery, Wild Hare Cider, Los Tios (Mexican), Jasmine (Chinese) and right across the street you'll see MacDowells Brew Kitchen. The Loudoun County visitor center is also in that complex among a few other businesses as well!
Walk down Loudoun Street toward King Street and you'll find many other options for dining, drinking, and shopping! Come check out The Corner Store (where I work and sell my Peace by Piece jewelry) at 26 N. King and enjoy the amazing menu for breakfast or lunch at The Cowbell Kitchen and we also have independent Birch Tree Bookstore! The options are endless up and down King Street but also check out Market Street in downtown. You can spoke out and walk for miles around downtown in residential and historic points along the way. The Leesburg Farmers Market is off Catoctin Circle on Saturday mornings from 8-12.
Just a few minutes off of Route 7 West, you can explore the historic village of Waterford (and the original Corner Store!), Hamilton, Purcellville, Lovettsville and Taylorstown, and Hillsboro...or keep going to wonderful Bluemont, the Appalachian Trailheads...or beyond to Berryville, Winchester or even points like Harper's Ferry, West Virginia!
There is so much to do and see in Loudoun, but many other options just outside our diverse county! Head only 40 miles East from Leesburg to points along the way to Washington DC. Hiking, biking, walking, shopping, dining, hitting the numerous local breweries and wineries, family friendly outings abound!

We've lived in Leesburg since 1992 so have enjoyed the wonderful changes over many years with our beautiful town. We have oceanfront rentals but are excited to share our 1895 cottage in the Vinegar Hill neighborhood, the historic area of Leesburg and all that Loudoun County offers.
