This was a perfect holiday cottage - right in the middle of the village (but with its own parking space right outside, really helpful) so only 3 minutes' walk from the Spar and maybe 5 minutes' walk from Elijah Allen (the other food shop) and pharmacy. It doesn't have spectacular views across the Dales (which is why, I'm assuming, it's a much more reasonable price than many other local places) but that didn't matter to us as it was only about a minute away from a public footpath across the fields and a wonderful walk by the river. It is set back from the market place and the lounge is upstairs so it's quiet but you can see everyone's comings and goings, which we really liked. Hawes is a lovely village and there's so much to do in and around the village or at most 30 minutes away. Inside, everything was immaculately clean and there was absolutely everything you could possibly need, down to a cheese grater, iron and washing up sponge! The owner lives next door and was very helpful and kind when we had a couple of questions. We really couldn't have had a lovelier holiday here and would very much like to come back. Very highly recommended!
