If you’re looking for a house boat experience in Srinagar then look no further! My parents and I had a great time here. They were very patient, understanding of our changing needs, and very hospitable. Great place for people looking for a little comfort and something unique. The stay comes with a caretaker (Ajaz for us) who helped with everything from serving meals, lighting fires, accompanying us on day trips outside Srinagar, and anything else we needed. Imityaz is an owner of the boat and is great in anything from conversation, organizing rides, and anything you could need. WiFi is fast, beds were comfortable and warm, hot water was great, you can get meals there (500 a person for breakfast and 800 for lunch/dinner), there are some restaurants and shops on the main road near the boat to get local food, there is a pleasant park next to the boat, a comfortable living room with desk for working, the organize rides to and from the airport for a price. Would stay again!

An unforgivable let down with the agreed meet at the airport not happening. Hounded by touts and cab drivers we were left with a mobile with no service to call Ajaz. Experienced travelling has taught us how to handle most situations and we sorted things ourselves but it was a very poor start. The shower didn't work. Hot water fine, but no pressure to force through the shower, so basically a bucket shower. Fine when camping but a houseboat? Prices were way out of line. By email prior to arriving I had enquired about costs for dinner on the boat oth-erwise we would walk to local restaurants. Similarly the cost of a car and driver for 2 days of local sightsee-ing, 10.00-4.30. Each time it was "we'll sort when you arrive". I asked when we arrived. " oh little money, no worry". Well it wasn't. A car, maybe 2000/2500 a day, a tuk tuk much less, 1000. He charged 2200 for a tuk tuk, more than an a/c car. But worse of all 4500, UK£45 for 5 bottles of beer and a birthday cake!

We booked a boat which we never allowed to stay. first put us on a OYO Baktoo boat, they never did bed or clean bathroom when previous guest check out, dust bin had junk, bed sheets and pillow cover were not clean, lot of hair . No bath towel, no lock to room from outside , and very un welcome crew,. i called Ajaz many times and all he had to say was his guests extend the stay so i have to stay where i was droped. i asked him to move us and waited till 8PM in the OYO boat lobby. raised a complaint in AIRBNB but nothing happend . Finally we used our towel and bedsheets and stayed there that night and went Gulmarg (~80KM from boat). 7 PM we started getting calls from OYO boat that i have to check out now, when i am at Gulmarg .  i made many calls to Ajaz to talk to boat owner because I don't want to checkout at late night and anyway next morning I am checking out and he said he spoke but when we reached our hotel at 9:30pm our room was given to someone else and it was locked from inside, And the oyo  boat owner told they were booked for 1 night only for us and you take your bags and get lost (he was very very rude).  After many calls to Ajaz and told him that we are going police station, he send a person and put us on another boat ( KCH) around 11PM. With 2 kids and 3000KM away from home this was a horrible and terrible experience to us. We never thought after booking the boat a month ago and making the payment in advance we have to suffer like this and not allowed to stay in the place we booked and spoiled our 2 nights, including the wedding anniversary day, which was the whole purpose of the trip. Pure cheating nothing else. i should get my money refunded for such treatment. Ajaz later told us that Shikkara (small boat) man put us on wrong boat, then how come oyo baktoo  had 1 night booking for us ? No answer.  we never saw the boat listed in AirBnB In our stay. Not recommended by me for sure.  The only positive thing I  can  remember is he is soft spoken.
