This is a superb cottage, situated on a quiet road, just a 5 minute stroll from the town. Taking the marked winding path, left of the next house along, will lead you to a bridge over the river. This was a flat route suitable for my husband's wheelchair. In fact, Bakewell was very accessible, with smooth paths along the river, and throughout most of the town. There was so much to see and do, in and around the area. We had an excellent meal at the Woodyard and a lovely afternoon tea at The Lavender Tearooms. Eyam was worth a visit. Chatsworth house and gardens (15 minute drive away) was amazing. John was an exceptional host: friendly and knowledgeable. Barn cottage had absolutely everything we needed for a relaxing and extremely comfortable break. We hope to return again soon. Had a fantastic stay at The Barn, located in such a beautiful part of the country. The space was very clean, private and cosy, situated in a stunning courtyard. The fire was lovely and cosy too after spending all day outside exploring the local area! John was incredibly friendly and helpful and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The centre of Bakewell was easily walkable from The Barn, and lots of fabulous places to explore also within a short drive. Our stay has truly been a real tonic for the souls and we've absolutely fallen in love with Bakewell - We can't wait to return!
We found the cottage just the right size for us as a couple. It was very well equipped and extremely comfortable. The gas fire was the icing on the cake as the weather was very cold and wet at times! Parking directly outside the cottage was a bonus. John was very responsive throughout our stay. John runs a very tight ship and it shows.

A fabulous location with lots of restaurants and walks from the doorstep. Accommodation was well of a good standard and the host was very helpful and had great local knowledge. The property was generally clean.

Moira and I have lived in the area 37 years - We moved from Sheffield to Grindleford in the 80’s….then to Great Longstone in the 90’s…. then, 2007 we moved to Bakewell when I retired and developed the house and Barn Cottage to a high standard - We really appreciate living here in Bakewell with all the local amenities it has to offer, it’s also the centre of the Peak District and all the beautiful surrounding countryside - We enjoy hosting our holiday cottage and meeting many interesting guests from all areas of the UK, Europe and around the world - I also enjoy, when time allows, my grandkids, walking, fly fishing and, nearly all country pursuits
