Wow! I cannot say enough positive things about the Painted Lady and it’s hosts Sharon and Steve. My husband and I travel year-round for our work. Many times, we find ourselves in the same old, cookie cutter hotel rooms. We were fortunate enough to stumble across the Painted Lady in Ottawa, Kansas. We have fallen in love with this property and its hosts and have stayed here several times in the past year. In all of our travels, we have never found a place that offered this much history, charm and hospitality. The painted lady was built in the 1890’s and still has many of the original aesthetics like the beautiful stained glass & hardwood floors. We’ve had the opportunity to stay in each of the beautifully decorated bedrooms on our various visits and all of the beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are updated. The outside of the home is painted brightly and landscaped beautifully. Sharon is an amazing cook so it was nice to wake up to the smell of breakfast after a comfortable nights rest. Sharon and Steve know the area very well and even directed us to trails we could walk on when we wanted to get outdoors. They truly are salt of the earth and the most kind people we’ve met in Kansas. All of our expectations were met and we enjoyed the comforts of home while being away from home. We could not of asked for a better experience. Thanks again, Sharon and Steve. We will be returning on our many travel to Kansas.

A beautiful and cozy place to stay, with inviting and helpful hosts. I had such a lovely time that I hope to come back through Ottawa and stay at the Painted Lady again.

Five stars are not sufficient to describe our stay in this gem of a Victorian home. It is clear how much love and care Sharon and Steve pour into it from the period furnishings and the fabulous modern bathroom to the delicious breakfast and enjoyable conversation. We’d been considering getting a “home on wheels” for our travels but our stay at The Painted Lady changed our mind. We don’t want to miss out on experiences like this!

Sharon and Steve have such a beautiful, historical home! I so enjoyed having an inviting and comfy place to stay as I crossed through their town. I had a tasty breakfast with them over great conversation!! Would absolutely stay again!!

Sharon was an amazing host! We had a delicious breakfast that we share with other wonderful guests staying at the same time. The place and neighborhood is worth visiting for its great history.
