Wonderful private location with beautiful stunning views and we found it very convenient and relaxing having the fenced area off the deck for our dogs. The lake provided a peaceful view from the house and deck and we enjoyed seeing the boats and water-skiers. This location is really dreamy and we found the house and furnishings to be in great shape. Mark provided special effort when something was left behind by us and mailed it promptly to our home address. Thanks so much Mark! Overall a very nice and pleasant experience!!

We booked this for a stay over the 4th of July Holiday. We chose this spot in particular because of its proximity to Mesa Verde, Durango, and a lake. We were traveling in a large group (in-laws and children) looking for a few days of relaxation and fun. Pros: This is a very large and elaborately decorated house. The house is filled with unique crafts and antiques. The rooms are spacious, the beds very comfy and there is a TON of seating areas to lounge on. There is a well stocked kitchen which affords you a great chance to cook a nice meal and brew up your morning coffee. The highlight of the house is the back porch. It is huge and has spectacular views. We loved sitting out here any chance we could. There is plenty of comfy seating, lots of outdoor eating and grill space and a hot tub (which was great for star gazing). This backyard spot made for a great holiday cookout and perfect for quiet morning yoga. Mark and Tenley were helpful and available when we had a few questions while we were staying there. The house is close to Mesa Verde (25 minutes) and Durango (45) and we spent time driving back and forth to both. Cons: You should know that this is some one's home and they still actively live there which means that there were dishes in the dishwasher and clothes in the dryer and stuff in the bathrooms and closets. The space wasn't as clean as we were used to. When we arrived, I had to wipe down the bathroom. It should noted that the hosts explained/apologized that they had a new house cleaner. If you have small kids there are a lot of antiques and unique western decor you need to be very careful. My kids were 10 & 13 and had to occasionally be reminded to NOT TOUCH. Finally, we made a few assumptions based on the pictures that we would have access to the lake in some way, but once we arrived we discovered that it was unlikely or impossible that we would spend anytime on that lake during our stay. Needless to say, we were disappointed that we could not access the water since it was so hot and we intended to avoid crowds on the 4th by spending the day at the house. But because we had difficulty obtaining information regarding recreation facilities and really any details about the lake from either the host or the internet, we decided to drive 45 minutes to Durango, again, to enjoy what that town had to offer.

A wonderful quiet place to stay with stunning scenery and an enormous deck to relax on while looking out. The star gazing is amazing here! Easy driving to Mesa Verde and it was nice to come back to the house afterwards to rest and relax.
