Jill’s remarkable gatehouse retreat was so complete and comfortable. Her homemade granola and jams,; the homemade breakfast bread was scrumptious. She recommended our visiting the Loughcrew Cairns ruins which are ancient and remarkable. These are very close to her home and we had a wonderful evening walk with spectacular sunset views of the area. She recommend seeing this 3000 BC archeological site and it was an excellent tip. The large bed was comfortable and a soak in the huge tub was well appreciated after our long trip. We hope to stay again the next time to Ireland.

My husband and I stayed for 1 night in March with Jill. She welcomed us warmly with her two friendly dogs Maggie and Bertie. Our room was ensuite, tastefully furnished, warm, spacious and with a very comfortable double bed with a cosy feather duvet. The bathroom is large with only a bath but the shower room is just across the landing if required. The house stands alone in the countryside and is very peaceful. It´s an old renovated farmhouse and has a cosy, homely feel to it. Jill was chatty and friendly and gave us tips for a hotel restaurant, bar and local sightseeing. We followed her tips and were not disappointed. We enjoyed our breakfast in the kitchen the next morning. Oldcastle has a lovely cafe/coffee shop and several bars. We didn´t have too much time to explore the surrounding area but we went to the Loughcrew Cairns and to the ruined Abbey at the village of Fore where we also purchased a rum from the local distillery. Our visit felt like we were staying with a friend.

We had a terrific (but very short) stay with Jill. We got in late, but Jill was very accommodating about making sure we didn't rush. The door was left open for us, and Jill was in the back making currants into jam for the morning. The whole house and environs were really gorgeous. She showed us to our room, which as promised had only a shared shower but en suite half-bath with tub (but only hot water to pour half a bath). Large, comfortable room. In the morning, Jill's other guest and we enjoyed a really lovely breakfast and conversation around the table and another friend stopped in to join. Felt like an ideal version of the original home-stay vision of AirBnB.

Jill’s home is a lovely farm house that is warm and inviting. The yellow room has a cozy bed and big bath. She is a lovely host. We had a great stay with Jill tracing our ancestry in local old Castle. What fun!
