Birdham is such a beautiful part of Sussex to visit, with the beaches of West and East Wittering (only 3 miles away by car).
Brackelsham Bay beach is even closer, just 2 miles away. From there you can stroll down to East Wittering and further on to West Wittering. The walk along the beach is so lovely, looking out across the Solent with the Isle of Wight in the Distance.
With stunning scenery wherever you go, there are so many amazing countryside walks you can take.
Having moved down from London over 50 years ago, I have a wealth of knowledge of this wonderful area, of where to go and what to do.
We are spoilt with an abundance of great Cafe’s, Pubs and Restaurant’s (I’ve listed a few below).
Chichester and it’s Railway Station is 4 miles away, 9 minutes by car.
Goodwood is 9 miles away, 15 minutes by car.
Southend Barns Wedding Venue is only 2 miles away, 5 minutes by car.
Buses run every 20 minutes to Chichester and the Witterings, the bus stop is only a 2 minute walk from the house.
When Goodwood Festival of Speed, Revival and horse racing events are on, buses go directly to the events from Chichester.
Birdham Pool and Chichester Yacht basin are just over a mile away, the walk there is very pleasant and will take you past Birdham Church, with the crazy, twisted Yew tree.
Grab a coffee and a snack at the Scuttlebutt Cafe at Birdham Pool (Open Wed-Sun 10-4pm)
Chichester Yacht Basin has a great bar and restaurant:
“The Boathouse” - with indoor and outdoor seating and tables. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
This west facing venue is a great place for a couple of cheeky sundowners, the sunsets here are amazing.
The other west facing beauty a couple of miles on from Chichester Marina is:
The Crown & Anchor Premium pub and restaurant, with idyllic views of Chichester Harbour.
Menus champion best of pub classics with a focus on fresh, local, seafood.
You can drive there in 7 minutes.
Cycle there by riding through Birdham Pool and Chichester Marina and beyond.
Or walk there in about an hour, following the footpath along the edge of Chichester Harbour.
My favourite local pub however is The Lamb, on the road to West Wittering and the good news is it’s only a mile away.
Dave the landlord runs a wonderful pub, great food lunch and dinner. Really cosy old English Pub, with a fantastic beer garden at the rear, (there’s even a children’s play area).
Chichester Golf Club is only 3 miles away, 7 minutes by car.
Chichester Festival Theatre is 5 miles away, 15 minutes by car.
Arundel Castle 13 miles away, 28 minutes by car.

Weald & Downland Living Museum 10 miles away, 22 minutes by car
A hidden gem, quintessentially British in a picture perfect setting.
Tinwood Estate Vineyard 8 miles away, 20 minutes by car.
The picturesque village of Bosham is 7 miles away, 13 minutes by car
Pagham Harbour is 5 miles away, 10 minutes by car.
Fishbourne Roman Palace is also 5 miles away, 11 minutes by car.

Buses run from Chichester to The Witterings and Birdham every 20 minutes, the bus stop is a 2 minute walk from the house.
There are local taxi firms covering this area and we even have Uber.
The cycle paths of Salterns Way are local to my house, so bring your bikes.
The Nisa shop for all your provisions is less than 5 minutes on foot.
There is a large park with children’s play area a 5 minute walk from the house.
There’s a mini Waitrose 2 minutes from the house, at the recently refurbished Shell Garage.
