In general, the Upper West Side is considered one of the nicest and safest neighborhoods of New York City. The perfect balance between residential and commercial with quiet streets, pretty buildings, shops, restaurants, theaters, and walking distance to 2 of NYC's most iconic parks : Central Park and Riverside Park.
In specific, the street where this apartment is located is very very quiet, with trees and birds, and half a block from Riverside Park, which, as it's name suggests, is right next to the Hudson River.
On the other hand, it's 1.5 blocks to Broadway, where there is access to groceries, restaurants, bakeries and bagels, espresso, delis, and the express subway to get you downtown in minutes.

The Express 1/2/3 train can take you downtown or uptown in minutes. There is also a cross-town bus nearby on 96th st that can take you to the east side where all the famous museums are located.
There is free street parking on the block, but you have to move your car in accordance with Alternate Side Parking regulations, 2 times per week, for 1.5 hours, to allow for street cleaning.
