Stay in a lovely, beautifully converted Victorian Barn in the grounds of a 17th Century thatched cottage. Peace and quiet in the Hampshire countryside awaits you yet you are only a short drive from all amenities and attractions that the area has to offer. Hawthorn Barn provides all the modern comforts that you need to make your stay a pleasure. The barn is completely separate and screened from the cottage and offers an area of the garden for you to use as you wish. Hawthorn Barn has two bedrooms, one with a king size bed with bathroom en suite and the other bedroom a standard double. There is a good sized shower room also. The main living area is open plan as you can see from the photographs. The whole is heated by underfloor heating which warms the limestone floor. There is a proper kitchen and dining area whilst the main living area has a comfortable sofa and three easy chairs, a smart television and soundbar. There is a log burner for chillier nights if you wish. We hope we have provided all that you would need but if you feel anything is missing then just give us a shout!

The perfect Airbnb stay — cannot fault it in any way. Choose this listing without hesitation if you're looking for supreme peace and quiet, beautiful surroundings, warmth and comfort. Easy to find, easy to park, great instructions on access to the property, charming host who popped in to welcome us on arrival and then gave us total privacy for the rest of our stay, yet was on call for advice and assistance when required. The photos are accurate, the place absolutely charming, thoroughly equipped and immaculately presented. And you're in a secluded sylvan setting with goldfinches, great tits, song thrushes and warblers creating the soundtrack outside. No cellular signal to speak of, but fast and excellent wifi makes that a total non-issue. We Bluetoothed our favourite music onto the sound bar, watched Netflix, and chatted for hours and hours on the comfortable sofas. Lots of food and supermarket choices within a few minutes' drive. Absolutely recommended!

Set by the boundary of The South Downs National Park Hawthorn Barn offers miles of wonderful walking from the doorstep, footpaths are across the lane. Jane Austens house at Chawton is only a five minute drive away. The house and gardens of Gilbert White can be visited in Selborne, a 12 minute drive, along with the charming pottery there. The lovely market town of Alresford is 15 minutes away with a selection of restaurants, bars and individual shops to be enjoyed. Alresford also has the Watercress Line steam train. The Grange Opera Festival is nearby with its program of cultural events. There are numerous Pubs close by with many serving delicious local ales from the brewery at Cheriton. Less than half an hour away visit the Cathedral City of Winchester, ancient Capital of England.
At the top of our lane there is a 9 hole golf course, we know little about golf but it is there if you wish to use it!
On a more practical level, local shops in Four Marks cater for everyday needs whilst Alton and Petersfield (15 mins) offer more extensive shopping.
