Central Historic District:
San Miguel de Allende founded in 1542 was proclaimed a World Heritage City by UNESCO back in 2008, due to it's historic and cultural influence during Mexico's War of Independence. This distinction allowed the architecture of this charming colonial city to be preserved. Known for its brightly-colored colonial architecture, and cobble stone streets, the best way to explore, is to walk it's streets.
Quaint restaurants, cafes, boutique shops and artisan markets are filled with handcrafts such as pottery, jewelry, woven baskets, and embroidered clothing.
Although this is a small city it successfully combines old world charm with modern cosmopolitan lifestyle and nightlife.

4-1/2 blocks from Casa Bella Vita, you will find the central plaza, known as "El Jardin" surrounded by park benches and open cafes. Find a place to sit, sip coffee or a glass of wine, and take in the sights of this beautiful town square. La Parroquia towers nearby in its pink-hued Neo Gothic façade. It is one of the most photographed churches in all of Mexico.

Escuela de Bellas Artes, courses in sculpture, music, dance and photography available. Also you will find, its most treasured inheritance, an unfinished 1940 mural painted by David Alfaro Siqueiros.
Casa del Mayorazgo del Canal, a historic home(now Banamex bank) check out the wooden carved door.
Teatro Angela Peralta, a classic theater presenting live musical performances.
La Biblioteca is a massive library with cafe, and treasured murals.
Benito Juarez Park (2 blocks from the house) offers play ground areas, basketball courts, walking paths and home of the annual Candelaria Plant Sale.
