This historical building was originally built and operated as a school in the early 1900's. The Freemasons took ownership of it in the 60's and in late 2022, we purchased it to give it a new lease on life. Lovingly restored from the ground up, we have taken what we believe are the original school rooms on the second floor and transformed them into luxury suites, catering to guests that want to enjoy where they rest and sleep as much as they are enjoying exploring the mid-coast of Maine. The property is a lovingly restored large brick building with a grand shared entrance. Guests will need to climb a large flight of stairs with their luggage to the suites as they are all on the second floor. On the second floor there are 3 generous suites, all available to rent as vacation rentals. They are all uniquely decorated and completely renovated. As well as the entrance hall, there are 2 communal large hallway spaces where you may see other guests and a laundry room with a washer, dryer and ironing facilities that all guests are welcome to use. The property is sadly not suited to children or individuals with mobility issues.

I have stayed in two of the suites at the Spofford Lodge. They exceed expectations. Lisa and Alex have worked hard to bring this amenity to the town and region.
Your Down East day-trip hub perfected—especially for Ford F-150 Lightnings and other EVs! Rent all 3 suites for your whole family. The hosts have accomplished magic in their renovation efforts. They succeeded wildly, with only a few new-lodging quirks to work out. The design is just enough, with subtle details receding into the overall character rather than being cliché. We have overnighted in two suites and couldn't have been happier. Stay if you want authenticity and history with amenities: heated bathroom floors, real espresso, a sturdy foam bed, and a hot simple rain shower with hand unit. The hosts are available but not in your face, and as communicative as you need them to be. Unless you're someone who despises old buildings with a few creaks, you'll likely love staying in any of the 3 suites. As for the EV, you don't need a J-1772 to use the Tesla Level 2 unit, just download the app and enter the last four digits of the chargers' serial numbers to start.

Bucksport, Maine is a very peaceful town right on the Penobscot river. Our property is one block away from the waterfront with its walkway, perfect for ambling along and enjoying unparalleled views of The Penosbcot Narrows Bridge and Fort Knox.
Lobster boat tours can take you out on the water, you can stand in line for the local famous ice cream take out window, grab a glass of wine in a secret little courtyard bar, buy coffee and books at the local bookstore or take in a movie, all just steps away from the property.
Bucksport is also an incredible central location for exploring Mid-coast Maine with Belfast, Bangor and Ellsworth all around 25 minutes drive, and with Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park just 35 minutes away. An easy commute to a bustling area with respite at the end of your day of exploring the rugged coast and picture perfect towns.
