Escape to a unique rural retreat. The literal English translation of Tŵr-Ffoledd is "Tower of Folly". We think that's a pretty accurate description given its dramatic tall outline and the unusual and eccentric features found in the interior. It's a peaceful but quirky, dog friendly holiday retreat in beautiful Mid Wales close to Llanwrtyd Wells and Builth Wells. It caters for a couple who are looking for an unusual place to stay in a rural and tranquil place. See more at twrffoledd.wales The accommodation is arranged over 3 floors. The entrance doors were reclaimed from an old church and the ground floor has an open plan living room with woodburning stove, dining table and kitchen area. We can't promise you a state of the art kitchen, but you will have an Air Fryer, flat bed microwave, toaster, hot plate and slow cooker. Upstairs is a double bedroom with a unique ensuite shower room. A set of french doors leads out onto a small balcony where you can admire the beautiful local countryside. The third floor, accessed by steep steps from the bedroom (unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues), is a light filled room which is equally suited to relaxation or as a work space. This area is currently being upgraded, as is the Wi-fi access and TV provision. It's hoped that these will be in place by March 2024.

I had a wonderful weekend staying at Twr-Ffoledd. The tower was absolutely beautiful, such an interesting and cozy space full of interesting details. I kept spotting more and more clever features in the construction and decor the longer I was there. The location was very rural and so quiet and peaceful. Sitting outside in the evening you are met with absolute silence, only broken by the occasional owl or sheep. Not something I ever experience back home. The location matched the listing perfectly and Dee provided extremely clear directions in addition to the post code and map. I was able to drive there directly with no confusion and she was very friendly and helpful and flexible with regard to checking in and out. Dee had provided some great recommendations for walks and restaurants which was really handy. The WiFi worked well for me and my phone had good coverage too. I brought my dog Boots and we were both met biscuits on arrival!
My partner and I had a lovely stay! Dee and Giles were on hand to answer any questions we had and the space was perfect for what we wanted. A really nice peaceful get away, we will definitely be back!

One of the best places we've stayed, we loved the tower and the location! The hosts were really helpful and incredibly thoughtful, we would highly recommend a visit!

We are close to Llanwrtyd Wells which is the smallest town in the UK and it's host to various wacky events throughout the year. This includes the famous Bog Snorkelling Championships, Man v Horse, Chariot Racing, Real Ale Wobble and many others organised by Green Events.
Builth Wells is approx 9 miles away where the Royal Welsh Show takes place in July every year. This is reputed to be the largest agricultural show in Europe. Many other events also take place on the RWAS showground.
The Brecon Beacons and Elan Valley are also not too distant.
The scenic Heart of Wales railway line has stations at both Llanwrtyd Wells and Llangammarch Wells.
