Set within the steading of Brockmill Farm, which once served the now-ruined Haggerston Castle a mile to the north, Granary View is dreamily convenient in various ways. This semi-detached cottage lies just a short drive or cycle ride from the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and its vanishing causeway. Also within easy reach are golden-sand beaches such as Cheswick Sands, while bewitching Bamburgh Castle soars on its crag less than ten miles to the south. GROUND FLOOR Kitchen with integrated electric fan oven/grill, combi microwave oven, 4 ring electric hob, integrated fridge and freezer, integrated dishwasher and Nespresso coffee machine. Dining area with extendable dining table and seating for six guests. Utility room/boot room (two steps down) with washing machine, tumble dryer, full size sink, hanging space and shoe storage space. An external door leads out to an enclosed gravelled area. Cloakroom with WC and basin. Sitting room with full-length windows, three-seater sofa, two-seater sofa, armchair, coffee table, side tables and lamps, 55" Smart TV, multi-fuel log burner (initial supply of logs provided) set in a pretty inglenook fireplace, roll top desk and selection of games and books. French doors lead out to the front garden. Bedroom three with zip and link beds which can be configured to a 6’ super king or 3’ twin, side tables and lamps, hanging rail, drawer storage beneath bed, dressing table with mirror, lamp and chair, soft occasion chair and south-facing window with curtains. En suite shower room with large rainfall showerhead with additional hand-held attachment, heated towel rail, WC, basin, illuminated mirror, cupboard storage and shelf space. FIRST FLOOR Bedroom one with zip and link beds which can be configured to a 6’ super king or 3’ twin, bedside tables with lamps, dressing table with mirror, lamp and stool, small sofa, bench seating at end of the bed, hanging rail, drawer storage beneath bed, full-length mirror. En-suite bathroom with large bath with hand-held shower attachment, separate walk-in shower with rainfall showerhead and additional hand-held attachment, heated towel rail, WC, basin, illuminated mirror and shaver point, cupboard and shelf space. Bedroom two with with zip and link beds which can be configured to a 6’ super king or 3’ twin, bedside tables with lamps, bench seating, arm chair, hanging rail, drawer storage beneath bed and full-length mirror. En-suite shower room with Cloudburst showerhead with additional hand-held attachment, heated towel rail, WC, basin, illuminated mirror and shaver point, cupboard and shelf space. OUTSIDE South-facing patio area and lawn garden at the front of the cottage. An outdoor dining table with 6 chairs is provided. A charcoal barbecue (charcoal not provided) is available for guest use. There is an enclosed gravel area to the rear of the cottage, with external side access and entry in to the utility room/ boot room. PARKING There is ample parking for three cars. BABIES & CHILDREN A travel cot and highchair are available on request. DOGS Two dogs are welcome. Dogs must be kept to the ground floor and are not allowed on the furniture or in the bedrooms. We ask that dogs sleep in the utility room. GUEST AMENITIES Bed linen and towels are provided. HEATING There is oil-fired underfloor heating throughout the ground floor with radiators and towel rails on the first floor. There is a wood-burning stove in the sitting room with the initial supply of logs provided.
Brockmill Farm sits in Northumberland's Coastal AONB, next to many close visitor attractions with local services nearby, including The Barn at Beal for lingering lunches savouring the catch-of-the-day or informal dining and a craft beer at The Bothy bar (please check seasonal opening times).
You can get ‘corner shop’ provisions from the Londis Lindisfarne Service Station on the A1 (1 mile), or 7 miles will take you to the village of Belford which offers a range of local amenities including the Sunnyhills Farm Shop which sells fabulous local produce as well as serving excellent coffee and tasty food. Food fans will be delighted by the wealth of local goodies on offer here including Doddington Dairy ice cream, Northumberland cheeses, Lindisfarne Oysters, Chainbridge Honey, and Craster Kippers to name but a few.
More extensive amenities can be found in the Elizabethan walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (9 miles) which has a mix of high street and independent shopping, as well as two large supermarkets, a Marks & Spencers food outlet and a good selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants.
The town of Berwick-upon-Tweed is also served by the main East Coast rail line with regular services to Edinburgh and Newcastle for a city day out.
