I stayed at Steve and Bobbie’s cottage for a week by myself, as a solo retreat, and it was exactly what I was looking for. They’ve clearly put a lot of love and effort into making their property a very peaceful and special place. I brought my own groceries and cooked my own meals, and the cottage was thoughtfully prepared with everything a guest might need. The property is beautiful- they maintain a short (albeit steep) gravel road up to the nearby mountaintop, also on the property, and I walked up there many times to watch the sunset or the stars, or to simply spend some time in quiet reflection. There are plenty of beautiful places to hike in the area, including a winding path down the mountain that can be reached on foot from the property, and the small towns in the area are about 40 minutes away by car. If you’re looking for a getaway in the forest with one or two people, I can’t recommend Steve and Bobbie’s courage enough.

The place was beautiful, the host was friendly and hospitable, there was plenty to do in the area. And the house was super cute and perfect for us!!

This is definitely a repeat stay for my fiance and I. The nature is so peaceful. The constant running spring puts me to sleep effortlessly. This is where we go when we need to leave the hussle of our daily lives and rest. Can't wait to come back. Steve and Bobbie are great! Got fresh delivery of eggs to our home. Great communication and super accommodating. Highly recommend!

The Nantahala Retreat is snug, cozy and comfortable. It’s setting near “The Nan” is about perfect. Spring and Fall are spectacular.. I have stayed with Steve and Bobbi on more than one previous occasion and hope to again. They are hospitable and accommodating..
