The Old Forge is a spacious high standard period thatched stone house set in Northamptonshire countryside with great access to motorway networks so easily accessible by car or train. The property comfortably accommodates 8 people but can sleep up to 10. It has a private cottage garden with outside seating a trampoline and play equipment. The village offers 3 country pubs which all provide meals and a local shop. Lots of countryside walks, country parks and Historic properties nearby to visit. Five bedrooms on the first floor with a further bedroom on the ground floor with easy access as there are no steps into the property. There are 2 two steps to the downstairs toilet and shower room. You can enjoy an 8 seater table in both the dining room and kitchen - you can squeeze 10 people around the dining room table at a push. We advertise as an 8 guest house as we are set up to accommodate 8 adults in the 4 double bedrooms but there are also 2 single bedrooms so the property can sleep up to 10. There is a bbq for your use. For a small additional charge we can arrange laundry. There are three televisions lots of family games and children's toys for your use.

Very cute cottage! Had a great time
The house is really beautiful and full of character. It’s pretty old, so there are the expected low ceilings and doors, as well as wonky floors, but that all adds to the experience. All the facilities are exactly what you would want. There’s no washing machine but there is the facility for someone to wash (but not dry) your laundry for a fee. We didn’t need to use this, but would have had no problems doing so if the need had arisen. The cooker has induction hobs which can be a bit scary when you’re using them for the first time, but they’re simple enough once you get to grips with it. There’s some useful pointers on the house instruction sheet to help. The garden is fantastic with seating areas and play areas. Crick itself is a lovely little village/town. It’s easy to get to off the motorway, very pretty, and has pubs, shops and canal-side walks all only a couple of minutes’ stroll away. We really enjoyed our stay, thanks to Duncan and Jo (and also Sarah, who was really helpful all week)
The first floor bathroom serves 5 bedrooms and has a door height of 5 foot 4inches. There is a beam running the length of the kitchen that is a hazard if you are over 5 foot 10 inches tall. There is no washing machine.
Great stay - thank you! Clear and helpful communication and a beautiful, cosy house - even nicer than we expected from photos. It was brilliant having access to lots of games and books for children, and we enjoyed being visited by Duncan and Jo's cats (but we could certainly have left them outside had we preferred as arrangements had been made for them to be looked after away from the house). Wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay!

The Red Lion is a lovely traditional country pub which is next door and serves a great steak and fabulous ales. There are two other country pubs, one serving a great selection of homemade dishes and the other serving an authentic curry. There is small tea shop which also stocks quality deli products. The village co-op is well stocked and is open from 8am-10pm. There is a local post office, play areas for younger children and a skate park.
There is a local village bus service into the local towns. Lots of country walks, country parks and woods. We are a short drive from many historic country houses.
