At the water, you will find room to fish, sunbathe, swim, or just unwind. Just outside the secluded cove is a large bay away from the main channel, perfect for water activities. Bring your boat and launch at the nearby Little Milligan boat ramp or rent a boat from a local marina and keep it docked in the boat slip during your stay. At the fire pit, kick back in the Adirondack chairs and roast s'mores, enjoy a picnic, or play some corn hole. Continue the fun after sunset when the string lights illuminate the backyard and dock into the evening hours. In the house, spread out on Skipping Stones Getaway's three levels. The entire top floor is a retreat in itself with its private deck, balcony chairs and table for two with water view. The retreat continues indoors with a king bed, fireplace, desk, dual head shower, two person bubbling garden tub, and large walk in closet. The 2nd floor encompasses an open concept kitchen and living space with another fireplace, TV, sleeper sofa, full bath, and 2 guest rooms. Moving outside, find the large wrap around porch with the hanging hammock chair, high top dining table, picnic table, porch swing, and swivel gliders. The ground floor features another full bath, den with sleeper sofa, love seat, wet bar, fireplace, TV, game table, and game cabinet. Outside you find more covered decks with a hot tub, gliders, and plenty of outdoor furniture and seating. Sonos speakers are on the decks, dock, and in every room for you to enjoy your favorite Spotify or Airplay playlist during your stay.

My family and I had a fantastic time staying at Christie and Donaven’s Airbnb in Butler, TN. The house was clean, cozy, and exactly as described in the listing. Felt like we were in a brand new home that had everything you needed. Christie and Donaven were wonderful hosts who were responsive and accommodating throughout our stay. They provided excellent recommendations for local attractions and dining spots, which made our visit even more enjoyable. Christie and Donaven’s place was perfect, with easy access to water activities and boat rentals. We especially appreciated how they seemed to have a thought of everything during our stay. The kids had a blast and enjoyed the hot tub when we couldn’t enjoy the water. We ventured out when the weather didn’t cooperate and walked a trail and explored a nearby cavern. Overall, we highly recommend staying at skipping stones getaway and would love to return in the future. Thank you guys for your hospitality (and the smores)!!
This place was perfect for our families! We traveled with 5 kids and 4 adults and loved everything about it. The home was super clean and well appointed with everything we needed. Christie and Donaven were great hosts as well. They were proactive in communication, and extremely responsive. We will definitely be back and are already making plans for a return in the summer so that we can get out on beautiful Lake Watauga!
This home is absolutely stunning, the pictures truly do not do it justice. There was more than enough space for the 5 of us. The views of the lake were amazing either sitting by the fire pit, relaxing in the jacuzzi, or from the multiple levels of decks with various sitting and swinging chairs. The home is in a great location to Boone, NC Beech Mountain, and many hiking trails. We stayed for 5 days and were constantly busy. We are already talking about coming back in the summer! Christie and Donaven were fantastic hosts, easily reachable, and made us feel like welcome family.
My family and I stayed for a long weekend in early November. The house is gorgeous and the cove in which it is situated is very peaceful. The kids (ages 4-9) had a blast fishing, kayaking and enjoying the hot tub. There is plenty to do if you are into being outdoors. The hosts are very responsive. Great experience.
I would imagine this place would be like a little slice of Heaven on Earth! If you’re looking for a safe, clean, and private area to relax and make memories this is your place! My family of 10 had more than enough room to not feel like we were on top of one another. Christie and Donaven provided everything we needed! I was surprised to see how well stocked and equipped the house was. We really could have gotten away with just bringing ourselves, clothes, and a little food! The kitchen had every spice you could think of. We were provided toothbrushes. The snacks along with the personal thank you card was such an appreciated gesture! They also provided the family with s’more ingredients! I got to meet meet Donaven. He is very kind and have such a welcoming spirit. The house itself is better in person than described. The lake and the main bedroom was my favorite! If I had to recommend a restaurant I would definitely recommend PALs BOOK! You won’t be disappointed!

Skipping Stones Getaway is a an easy to access lakefront home that boasts an easily accessed private dock directly in front of the home, a flat back yard overlooking the lake. This home is located in a quiet neighborhood of mostly homeowners. It is located just 3-minutes down a paved road from the highway. There are no steep drop offs or narrow gravel roads to navigate, and 4-wheel drive is not required regardless of the weather. Any vehicle can easily access the property, helping to make this a prime, low stress destination. The best way to get around the lake is with a pontoon. If you're in a hurry, we recommend jet skis. If you're driving instead, leave some extra time as the roads follow the lake making for a scenic ride. Bear in mind, the locals are not in a hurry. Boone, NC is 39 minutes away; Johnson City, TN is just 38 minutes, and both are abundant with activities. Elizabethton is just a short 23 minute drive for quick dining, shopping, ice cream etc. In addition to all of the lake activities, guests can also enjoy the Appalachian Trail, Roan Mountain State Park, Sugar Hollow Retreat, a winery, and lots of snow skiing, tubing, and snowboarding options nearby. We provide guests with many local recommendations for activities, food and drink.
There are plenty of activities you can do without ever leaving Skipping Stones Getaway. We have a hot tub, fire pit, corn hole boards, games, 3 kayaks, a canoe, paddleboard, paddle boat, floaties, life jackets, a large dock with seating. The home is in a large secluded cove to swim, play, or float while remaining if sight of the house making it easy to keep an eye on those in the water. If you bring or rent a boat, your are free to use of dock and slip. We also rent water sports equipment, water skis, 3-person tube, knee board and tow ropes. The Little Milligan Boat ramp is just minutes away to launch your boat. The lake is 16 miles from end to end and has 185 miles of shoreline to explore.
Skipping Stones Getaway is located off a well maintained 2-lane state highway. From there, you'll continue 3 minutes (0.9 miles) down an easily navigated 1-lane paved road. In the unlikely event you encounter another vehicle on this dead end road, there are plenty of places to pull off for passage. The home sits just 100 yards down a well maintained gravel driveway where you will find a large parking area with ample room to turn around. There is plenty of lighting for the parking area if arriving at the property after dark.
