This was our first trip since the pandemic started and we were very excited about having a super comfortable stay and decided to invest a lot for the perfect place. The dock was fantastic, AC worked perfectly. However there were several dissapointments that made our stay pretty uncomfortable. The worst experience was that the staff stole money from us. We reported, management confirmed it was them. They had assured staff was trustworthy but turned out one person working that day had been there only for a week and the other one it was the first day. They found half the money and we are still waiting for them to return the other half (they never did). We were told we could not bring any outside help/cook because of covid protocols but they changed the staff almost every day and service was very inconsistent which was not in line with the protocols. This is not a house to relax when you have kids and specially if you are in the roof top.  We did not have hot water 4 out of 5 days, reported it but they did not fix it. Jacuzzi does not have hot water either. Be aware of mosquitos! It’s really hard to live the outdoors, specially the hammocks and the rooftop. We were asked to sign a contract and we did, but we did not really have to given that we did everything through airbnb. That did not really make us feel welcome. House is listed for 14 people but it is really tight as 6 people have to share full really small bathrooms. Listing is not accurate as it indicates 5 bathrooms but note they are not full bathrooms - one is the rooftop bathroom and the other one is the half guest bathroom. Meaning 2 rooms -6 people- share a full bathroom. Kitchen is not really fully equipped - no oven, very basic cuttlery, and we had to ask for wine glasses and they brought some the next day. No tequila or mezcal glasses which was surprising in Mexico. Lagoon was beautiful but there were no colors on the house side. We had to arrange a specific tour so we could see that. The staff does not cook. The way they write about staff could make you think they do. You can hire a chef for USD112 a day that will supervise the existing staff do the cook (pretty expensive for Mexico) and we considered it but it was very unflexible for 13 people. There is no eat-in kitchen as listed and there was a broken kayak. This place is 1 hour away from a supermarket so future guest can consider that. Overall very different experience from the one we had planned  and defintely did not receive what is expected for what we paid. The staff the last day was fantastic. I wish they had been there from the beginning. I am sure that would have made a huge difference. The management is really worried to make you sign and read all the house rules, but they don’t take good care of the guests’ needs.

Casa Marivan es un lugar espectacular para disfrutar de la zona norte de la laguna y la reserva en Bacalar; la casa cuenta con todo lo necesario para disfrutar de la laguna (kayaks, paddle boards, etc) y para pasar momentos muy divertidos en familia y/o con amigos, tanto en la laguna como en la casa. También esta suficientemente cerca para conocer y visitar el pueblo de Bacalar, y hasta para hacer una excursión a Mahahual; es un punto base excelente para disfrutar su propia ubicación al 100% y también darse el tiempo de conocer los alrededores. Un lugar al que definitivamente si regresaría!!

Todo esta divino, la casa, el muelle, los cuartos, el rooftop etc. Por otro lado los baños están muy reducidos en cuanto a espacio y no son suficientes para 14 personas, pero de ahi en fuera todo es maravilloso. El personal de la casa es super atento, Lety y Flor se lucieron con la atención y la comida, Andrés y Edwin estuvieron al pie del cañón con cualquier cosa que necesitáramos. Definitivamente ellos hicieron de nuestra estancia una experiencia todavía mas grata. ¡Definitivamente vamos a regresar!

Marivan was an excellent choice to stay at. Constant communication with Aymme and Edwin made arrangements flawless! The onsite personnel Leticia Flor and Andres made our stay pleasant with their attentiveness and warmth. They truly made our stay very welcoming and successful! The house itself was more than what we expected.....pictures don’t do it justice! We got massages arranged through them and did not disappoint!
