What a gem! Myself, Husband, 11 and 4 year old came for the weekend. Firstly, Peta’s instructions and directions were spot on, and it was easy to find the place and get inside. A lovely welcome basket was provided. The place has everything you need to stay, except towels and tea towels - which Peta let us know in advance. We really loved how spacious, clean and nicely decorated the place was. It is kitted out for a disabled person, with ramps, accessible bathroom. I would point out the master bed is very firm. The patio was really nice to use for dinner in the sunshine, overlooking the pretty lake which had ducklings and fish. We ordered takeaway food from Embers, a restaurant / cafe that was less than 2 mins walk round the lake. Food like pizzas, burgers, salads, desserts. Menu for the children too. There was a shop which sold hot drinks, and hot breakfast food too. We loved there was a children’s play area, with splash pad, and archery. Very peaceful, lodges spaced.
We had a lovely time at the cabin, it was much bigger than we expected and the location was lovely. It was very accessible with a ramp up to the cabin and an accessible bathroom. there was a handy boot room where we could stow the wheelchair. The campsite was flat and easy to get around.
If you're looking to explore the New Forest with a disabled person, then this cabin is perfect! My mum uses a walker (and occasionally a wheelchair) so the ramp and level spaces throughout made a huge difference - but it doesn't feel 'decked out with hospital gear'. We all loved sitting out on the verandah with a coffee in the sunshine. It's all gorgeous! The campsite amenities are fab too: - the Reception crew made it easy, the dog park was great, the onsite little shop was a godsend, and the pizza restaurant was good for an easy dinner. If we'd had kids with us, they'd have loved the play park. We also went out to eat at The Lamb and they were great too. Beaulieu and Exbury both offer motorised scooters for hire (book early). The viewing platform at the deer park at Bolderwood was harder to get mum too than hoped (and the loos are at the far end of the car park). Mudeford seafront is nice and easy. Peta is a lovely host! Kind and responsive - can't ask for much more. :)
The lodge was immaculately presented and everything from the linen to the crockery was the best quality. Lots of space and the view from the terrace was beautiful, overlooking a willow tree and small lake and set amongst high trees. We felt like we were in the middle of the forest. The site is incredibly peaceful and quiet. Petra was very attentive and easy to communicate with. The prosecco in the fridge was a lovely touch.
Set literally on the edge of the New Forest with access to endless walking and cycling trails. Quiet, peaceful and great pubs to drink and eat at.
Private parking on the drive for 2 cars.
