What a great apartment, furnished in style! Especially cool are the different seating and lighting options which combine to make a very cosy setting. The apartment was bigger than expected and provides more than enough space for two. The location of the apartment was great for us cruising the city by bike. But also connections by bus and metro connecting to the important trains stations in Paris are right around the corner. On the downside this does create some noise pollution during day time, which however did not bother us - neither did the malodour coming from the toilet, which can be countered by the scented candles provided. Overall, we loved it and can really recommend staying at Dominique’s place.
We had a great time at Pierre’s. The apartment is immaculate and very tastefully put together. Everything in the apartment works perfectly, there was even a fan in the bedroom in case we needed it for the warm temperatures. The surrounding area is peaceful, with a couple bistrots right on the corner from the apartment to get a bite to eat/drink from. It’s also a great launchpad into other parts of Paris! We would definitely stay again. Pierre himself was very helpful, extremely communicative and on hand to help for any queries we had! We would absolutely recommend the apartment to other guests.
A beautiful place with a super communicative host. . Super cosy with plenty of natural light, making it the perfect crash pad after a long day of exploring. Also great location if you want to spend a lot of your time on the left bank while staying out of the intense touristy bustle of the more popular places like the Marais. Would stay again!
BELLEVILLE PARK
This hilly green space will offer you one of the best views of the capital. Looking south, you will find yourself facing the ocean of Parisian rooftops. A breathtaking view!
CEMETERY OF PERE LACHAISE
The Père-Lachaise Cemetery is probably the most famous cemetery in Paris, if not the world. And you can understand why by visiting it. Although Paris is full of attractive cemeteries (Montparnasse, Montmartre, Batignolles), this one is the most surprising, and the most beautiful, by many aspects.
First of all, of course, because it welcomes a tremendous amount of celebrities from all over the world. But also because during your walk in its paved streets, you will discover a great number of plant species, something that one does not necessarily expect to find here. Cherry trees, maples, chestnut trees, weeping willows, walnut trees... The Père-Lachaise cemetery has about 5000 trees representing about 50 different species spread over an area of 44 hectares. This makes the place the largest green space in Paris!
Not to be missed during your visit:
The tomb of Allan Kardec, founder of spiritualism, whose grave, the most flowered in the cemetery, is a Breton dolmen.
The neighboring graves of Molière and Jean de la Fontaine who died in the 17th century and were transferred here to make the cemetery attractive.
The tomb of Victor Noir, a journalist killed by Napoleon III's cousin and a symbol of the "recumbent" funeral style.
The graves of Jim Morison and Oscar Wilde, although these are now protected by fences because of multiple degradations.
The superb tombs of Theodore Guéricault and Frédéric Chopin.
