The home features an open floor plan with high ceilings and gorgeous wood trim throughout. The main living area on the ground floor features a well equipped kitchen, built in dining table seating 7, and lounge area arranged around a wood-burning stove. Two of the three bedrooms are on the ground floor. The primary suite has a king bed and ensuite bathroom with a generously sized walk-in shower: sliding doors open onto a private deck. The downstairs guest bedroom has a queen bed and is adjacent to the downstairs guest bathroom. Also downstairs is a mudroom with laundry and ample space for boots and coats. Upstairs is a bright day-lit loft area furnished with couch and desk, and with sliding doors opening onto a balcony looking out into the woodlands. The upstairs bedroom has a king-sized futon style bed. There is also a second guest bathroom upstairs.
Jim’s place was perfect for us. We had three couples renting it for a wedding only 3 minutes down the road. I especially loved the condiments in the fridge, soft bath towels, great water pressure and the ping pong table in the garage for entertainment. We didn’t do any cooking but the kitchen was well stocked!
Very quiet location and we enjoyed seeing the sheep herded to the upper pasture right past the house.
Gorgeous cabin between Mazama and Winthrop. We wanted a place that was relaxing and where we could cook, but also easily get into the mountains and the towns. This place was perfect! It was very spacious and clean. While we were only 4 vs 6 people, 6 people would very comfortably fit. I loved drinking coffee on the porch in morning and looking at the stars at night. Everything we needed for basic cooking was there. Host was very responsive. Great place to stay!
LIBERTY WOODLANDS
Liberty Woodlands is a community of residential and vacation homes, including a number of properties available as legal nightly rentals. Specific guidelines and policies that all guests and renters must adhere to at Liberty Woodlands include:
- 10 mph speed limit. This keeps the dust down and keeps kids, dogs, bikers, and walkers safe.
- Quiet hours after 10:00 PM.
- No tents, trailers, or RVs.
- Parking is not allowed on Liberty Lane or Ponderosa Lane. Please park in the driveway.
- Do not leave food or garbage outside. This attracts bears and other critters.
MAZAMA
The Phoenix is located 3.5 miles from the Mazama Store and the Methow Trails trailhead (for great hiking, mountain biking and cross-country ski trail options). In addition to the store with its great bakery and grocery, Mazama is home to the Goat’s Beard outdoor store (with mountain bike and fat bike rentals), the Mazama Ski School for cross country ski hire and lessons and the Mazama Public House.
WINTHROP
The old west town of Winthrop has great shopping, bakery and dining establishments; the Shafer Museum is definitely worth a visit to learn about the local history. Both ski and mountain bike rentals are available in town, and don’t forget the ice skating rink and Methow Rafting.
NORTH CASCADES NATIONAL PARK
Liberty Woodlands is also conveniently situated for easy access to the North Cascades and the trailheads to many of the Park's world-class hiking trails. It’s a 20 minute drive to the Cutthroat Lake trailhead, 25 minutes to Washington Pass and 30 minutes to Maple Pass trailhead. Great for beating the crowds and snagging a trailhead parking spot at peak seasons.
Getting Here: May to November, from Seattle and the westside, you can drive over State Route 20 and Washington Pass (check WSDOT for closures). Alternate, and winter routes from Seattle are via I90, Snoqualmie Pass and Bluett Pass, or via highway 2 over Stevens Pass (check WSDOT for driving conditions). Combine these routes and you have the scenic Cascade Loop. The nearest major airports are Spokane International Airport at 180 miles (year round) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (190 miles in summer / 260 miles in winter). Regional flights are also available at Pangborn Memorial Airport in Wenatchee located 102 miles away.
Getting Around: Nearest trailhead to access the Methow Trails networks is just 2 miles down the road at Brown’s Farm where you can access the Methow Community Trail. The Mazama Store is 3.5 miles. Winthrop is 10 miles. Methow Motion provides a private car service throughout the Methow valley.
