Sparkling clean and terrific location. The Rustic Manset Artists Home is the perfect setting for relaxation and experiencing all that Mount Desert Island has to offer. As longtime MDI regulars, our normal travel plans were disrupted in 2020--along with everyone else's--by... well, you know. Fortunately, we decided to safely travel to our happy place, and were even more fortunate to happen upon Ryan and Keri's listing. The house is lovely, and it's only minutes from Southwest Harbor, on "the Quiet Side" of Mount Desert Island. Manset is a small harbor village that nevertheless offers some great restaurants within a few minutes' walk or drive, and easy access to hiking, scenery, and shopping. The house itself is tastefully decorated with works by the artist and others, featuring a modern sensibility in a traditional Maine home. The hosts clearly work hard to make the place just right for visitors, and in the current times, work extra hard to "deep clean." This was apparent from the moment we walked in. The house is set in a residential/rural area, so it really feels as though you're a Manset resident. Nearby farm sounds, as well as harbor comings-and-goings are heard, and, the careful listener will be able to set their watch by the bugle calls from the US Coast Guard station just across the harbor. The hosts live in the back of the property in a "tiny house" and are available when needed. That said, they also are careful to respect their guests' privacy as well. Though I could write expansively about the many lovely hours we spent here, and all over the island and Downeast, best to experience it for yourself. We enjoyed our stay and recommend both the house and the hosts highly.

Ryan & Keri are wonderful hosts. They live on the property but fully respect your privacy even in the shared backyard. They’re both so friendly, hospitable and responsive. The space is really charming with a lot of chic character. It’s very inviting and attractive. The kitchen is also amazing. I think they have every tool you could need! I would recommend this property and stay again!

This place is great for a quiet getaway. It’s barely a 5 minute ride into Southwest Harbor. The house is quirky, warm and adorable. It was fun listening to the diverse record collection and discovering all of the interesting plants and artistic touches throughout the home. And while we did see many of the touristy spots in Acadia National Park, which are about 30 minutes away, we also walked some great Acadia trails just 5-10 minutes from the house.
