Beautiful cottage in stunning surroundings! We had the most relaxing and lovely stay. The cottage is cosy, warm, and has everything needed. It is beautifully decorated and really well finished. The hosts are very friendly and communicative. The location is amazing. We had a great time paddling on the Lochs with our canoe, hiking the surrounding bens etc. The lodge forest visitor centre near Aberfoyle is lovely to go and see the red squirrels and pretty to walk around. Highly recommend going to Mhor 84 near the cottage for a meal and some drinks. If you are able go to go on a Thursday they have live music and a brilliant atmosphere. Also Mhor bread is a bakery in Callander which sells really nice baguettes, pies and cakes. In conclusion, this is a great place to stay you won’t be disappointed
The Braes of Balquhidder are accessible from the A84 by a single-track road. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is located at the northernmost point of Loch Lomond and Trossachs Country Park. West of the town, 4 miles down the glen to Monachyle Mhor, is the magnificent Loch Voil. Rich in mythology and history, the Celts considered it to be a "thin realm" where there is little separation between the spiritual and physical worlds. The remains of the first Balquhidder kirk, which dates from 1631, contain the grave of Rob Roy MacGregor, a notorious 17th-century bandit who resided in and around the region. The headstone of St. Angus, an early Christian missionary who brought Christianity to the region in the 7th century, is located inside the current church, which was constructed in 1855.
