Ocean view guest house, 5 minute walk from black sand beach Enjoy the privacy of our detached 675 square foot guest house, together with its dedicated and private 300 square foot lanai. Lounge chairs face the ocean with a view of waves in the distance hitting the sea cliffs. The guest house is under the same roof, but separate from, our main house. It includes a fully equipped indoor kitchenette, with dishwasher, disposal, microwave, fridge with icemaker, toaster, blender and more. The bathroom includes a steam shower and dressing area. The king bed includes head and foot controls. There are several ceiling and space fans, plus air conditioning if you desire. TV and internet are available, of course. The guest house is part of our larger estate, designed by the architect owner who lives on property and is available to respond to your needs. It has high ceilings and clerestory ventilation, like the main house. The separate and private lanai features a barbeque grill and air frier, and an intimate table for home dining. Large lanai chairs, a sofa and a fire pit are there for your use. There are plenty of supplies if you want a beach day -- fold-up chairs, boogie boards and snorkels. In addition, there's a shared swimming pool available by appointment.

We had an absolutely amazing stay! Howard is an incredible host - very warm, welcoming, and responsive with a wealth of local recommendations and tips. Easily the best host we've ever had. The guest house is everything we would hoped it would be and more. Peaceful and private oasis with a beautiful view, gorgeous landscaping, and luxurious amenities. The steam shower and outdoor bath are particularly delightful. It's also a fantastic jumping off point for exploring the east side of the big island - there is an incredible, secluded black sand beach just across the street, Pahoa is a short jaunt, and Hilo and Volcano National Park are very easily accessible. Truly provides the best of both worlds - a remarkable place to relax and to have some incredible adventures. We would stay again without hesitation.
Howard, Gregory, and David set the Air BnB bar with this property and their hospitality. After 20+ years visiting and managing properties on this island, this is my new favorite place on the east side.
I wished we stayed longer. Upon arriving, Howard was there to great us and walked us through the features and things we needed to know to navigate his place. We had an awesome time. We were able to relax and take a breather from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. I will be recommending this place for friends and family that will be visiting the big island!
Howard’s place was really special, probably the best AirBnB I’ve ever stayed at. The vacation to Hawaii was a surprise for my girlfriend and our favorite part ended up being the place we were staying! It was even more beautiful than the pictures if you can believe it. Howard had a ton of great recommendations and was extremely welcoming, we will be recommending this place to anyone we know that is coming to Hawaii. Book it while you can! I imagine this won’t have availability for long!
Absolutely the best stay in HI…period. Super friendly host, amazing location and one of the best beaches on the island is right across the street. I’m hesitant to leave such a good review in fear it will be booked solid when I want to come back!! Thank you, 6 out of 5 stars!
