Indulge in coastal bliss: experience the ultimate private escape with uninterrupted sea views from sunrise to sunset at our detached and accessible, four bedroom haven. Drift off to sleep to the sound of the waves. Enjoy the wood fired hot tub, three outside terraces and a large mature garden. These offer the perfect spots to eat together or relax separately. For those who love to entertain there is a gas/charcoal BBQ for family meals after the beach. There is secure parking for 2 to 3 cars. All the inside space and major terraces and wood fired hot tub are on one level. You enter to a large open plan well-equipped kitchen, dining room, and lounge. There is a separate utility room and WC. There is also a sun room off the kitchen which is great for coffee or cocktails. The wood burning stove and central heating keep us warm in winter. The wrap around veranda and black out blind’s keep us cool in summer. The four, good size bedrooms lead off from a hall. Three of these have smart en-suite shower rooms and TV’s. The fourth bathroom with a stand alone bath is available to all. All rooms and showers have step free access. The house is being decorated with original art from Cornwall and around the world. A carefully selected range of food, poetry, nature and philosophy books are provided for you to browse and relax. We believe no home is complete without plants and we ask that guests help us keep these thriving by watering when needed. Outside, there is wood fired hot tub with easy access steps. The additional BBQ seating area is three steps down to another level with a fire pit for toasting marshmallows. The expansive lawn is down at the bottom level with sun loungers an Arbor and a kids shed ‘den’ with old fashioned games.
An absolutely beautiful place. So peaceful and relaxing watching the beach area. Totally recommend for a stay 😎😎
This is a fabulous house, amazing views. Everything you need for a relaxing break away. Beautiful walks and pub just down the road.
Beautiful house which has everything you need. We did have a problem with the heating for the entire stay which was very unfortunate as the house was cold but this wasn’t Tanias fault and after one night she did provide heaters. The hot tub is lovely but does take at least a day to heat up so bear this in mind as it wasn’t ready on our arrival. Overall we had a lovely time and the location is superb, we would love to return!
We have just returned from 4 nights stay at Summer House. Sadly the weather was not on our side and we were unable to use the beautiful outdoor space. The boiler had broken down when we arrived and we had no hot water or heating, but Tania was very quick to arrange for some electric radiators and bags of logs for us to pick up from Argos which we had to use for the entire stay, although a heating engineer did manage to get the immersion to stay on for hot water on day 2. The house is beautiful with no stairs which is a bonus with stunning views of the Sea. Beds were comfortable although with 5 of us - there was only 1 big bed to comfortably fit 2 adults so my son and daughterinlaw had to sleep separately in separate bedrooms to be comfortable. The kitchen area was lovely and well equipped. The seating area in the Lounge in the evenings could have had a few more armchairs in so we could all sit together comfortably to watch TV. All in all, we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend
Downderry is a village brimming with character on the south coast of Cornwall, England. It is located near the towns Looe and Polperro. It’s unique micro climate means it’s often warmer than the surrounding areas. We have a long beach, popular with families and surfers. The beach is dog-friendly all year round as are the local pubs and cafes.
Downderry has a beachside pub and restaurant, a tapas bar, cafe, village shop and post office. The South West Coast Path runs through the village and offers stunning coastal views over the English Channel. The nearby village of Seaton also has a pub serving food, beach cafe and a restaurant and the nearby Seaton Valley Countryside Park. All these amenities are within close walking distance.
We are lucky to have private off-road parking for 2-3 cars and there is also additional parking available in the local public carparks.
We often travel here by train - its on the main Penzance Line and can be just a 3.5 hours direct journey from London. The nearest station is St Germans (or Liskeard which is a little further). From either you can pre book a friendly taxi service to take you, your luggage and your dog the 20 minute journey to the property.
There are also regular buses that run through the village heading to nearby Cornish towns and also into Plymouth and Totnes in Devon.
