We had a lovely stay in James’s studio and it is even nicer than the photos suggest. We sat outside as the sun went down over the valley then beside the fire with dinner. We both slept like logs in the super comfortable bed and felt very rested despite having a busy weekend and travelling far. We will definitely stay again!

We had a lovely stay. The surrounding area is beautiful. There are great hikes around. James place is well equipped and private. Great place for a weekend getaway. Jim and Anne are very friendly.

This is a special place. The valley must be one of the most beautiful in the UK - peaceful and wild, dramatic and gentle, and rich in history (spiritual, artistic, natural). There are incredible walks from the doorstep, beautiful mountain towns a short drive away, and plenty of opportunities either for adventure or for a more meditative experience. The property itself is so beautifully done: Jim and Anne have an amazing eye for detail and hit a fine balance between creativity and minimalism in their decoration. It's a cosy, warm, comfortable space with a rolling view, somehow both intimate and expansive: the photos don't quite do it justice. It was lovely to walk out into the open air each morning with a cup of coffee and hear the river, the occasional sheep, and not much else. Jim was an exceptionally tactful and generous host, entirely respectful of our privacy but attentive, meeting our needs without making us feel needy, and often leaving us gifts of fresh produce form his garden.
