Forest Coal Pit, Abergavenny · 整套乡村小屋 · 3室5床2.0卫 · 可住6人 · Luxury Eco-farmhouse with hot-tub & wild swimming
Fforest Farmhouse is a 400 year old farmhouse transformed into a luxury get-away. It is powered by green electricity, underfloor heated with renewable energy and fitted out with a brand new kitchen and bathrooms. Relax and enjoy the views from the spacious bedrooms and the cosy sitting room, by the wood burning stove. Surrounded by the beauty of the Black Mountains, you can connect with nature, and enjoy the out-door hot tub and fire pit, for memorable evenings under the stars. Croeso - Welcome. The farmhouse is your personal space. The main sitting/dining/kitchen area is on the first floor, with access to your private garden, including the fire bowl (great for al fresco cooking) and wood-fired hot tub (towels, gowns and sliders included). There are three bedrooms, all with views across the valley to the Iron Age Fort - the Gaer, and two bathrooms. All bedrooms have king sized beds, but two of these can be changed to twin beds The farmhouse sits amongst 45 acres of private land within the Brecon Beacons National Park, in which you are welcome to wander. From the Grwyne Fawr river - a Site of Special Scientific Interest - through forests and meadows, we have a wide range of environments and natural habitats. We keep bees and have planted many trees, including an orchard, and are managing the land for wildlife. We also have a Micro-Hydro generation installation and solar panels, to provide our electricity. Our aim is to have a minimal footprint on the land, to work with the environment and local wildlife. These include foxes and badgers, bats, stoats and weasels. Plus lots of different bird species, including several on the RSPB Red list. We always hear, and often see larger birds including Owls, Buzzards, Kites, Herons,Sparrow-hawks, Jays and Woodpeckers. And during the summer months there are many other smaller visitors - swallows and house martins, black caps and wagtails, redstarts, finches and more - nesting in and around the farm buildings. We are in the Black Skies reserve so on clear evenings the sky is spectacular - a favourite occupation is lying in the hot-tub spotting planets, stars, satellites and, on special occasions, the Milky Way. With just the river and the owls providing the soundtrack, it’s really magical. In the mountains we have almost no sound pollution, no air pollution and no light pollution. The overwhelming sensation is of peace and well being. Adjacent to our ground is the beautiful and tiny Partrishow Church, with its medieval font, intricately carved 15th century screen, and unusual wall paintings. And Sugar Loaf mountain is just a short walk away. Further afield, Llanthony Priory, Crickhowell, Abergavenny and Hay on Wye are all easily accessible, as well as the many walks and other natural attractions of the area.
We’ve just had a super long weekend at Jackie’s place. Beautiful home and has everything that we needed. Lovely places to walk nearby and the hot tub at night was just perfect! Jackie was an excellent host and extremely helpful and friendly all the time we were there. Would definitely go again!
It was our second stay and so glad we ventured back. A beautifully appointed house with fabulous outdoor cooking and great hot tub. Sure we’ll be back again.
My family and I absolutely loved our stay at fForest Farmhouse - we did a lot of walking (uphill mostly it seemed!) straight from the house. The farm land itself is worth an afternoon discovering. The biodiversity is incredible and I am desperate to see it in full bloom during the summer months. Jackie and Ian were amazing hosts - we will definitely be back!
Such a charming spot to spend some time away with friends over the New Year. The walks nearby are breathtakingly beautiful and the Accomodation makes you feel like you have your own peaceful corner of this landscape. Jackie and Ian were super helpful, and very available when asked despite it being New Year’s Eve. Recommend downloading What 3 Words for location as G**gle maps doesn’t know where the property is.
There’s lots to do nearby, if you want to explore.
Fforest Farmhouse is located on a no-through road, so there is very little passing traffic, making it an ideal base to explore the many footpaths and bridleways on our doorstep that take you into the countryside.
Just 5 miles from Abergavenny, and 5 miles from Crickhowell, we are in easy reach of local amenities, but remote from the bustle of urban life.
From the front door it’s just an hour’s walk to the top of Sugar Loaf, and there are many other walks available without needing to get in your car, including to Partrishow church, Llanthony Abbey or to the Grwyne Fawr reservoir.
A short drive takes you to the Skirrid or the Blorenge (these two mountains, plus Sugar Loaf, comprise the Abergavenny ‘Three Peaks’). The Monmouthshire and Brecon canal is also close by for level walking.
Further afield are Hay on Wye and Brecon, and also in the National Park, Pen-y-Fan and Waterfall country.
The farmhouse has lots of guides to walking and days out in the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) National Park, and we are happy to give you advice on most local suitable walks or routes.
We are close to many travel routes.
It’s easy to drive here, but Abergavenny rail station is just 15 minutes drive away.
For cyclists, National Cycle path 42 passes just 2 miles away.
And for walkers and pilgrims we are right next door to the Beacons Way footpath, the Cambrian Way and the St Thomas Way. Offa’s Dyke Footpath passes just a couple of miles away.
We have parking spaces for 3 cars and there is a bicycle store. And plenty of room for walking boots!
