Welcome to Highside a delightful cottage set in a secluded location overlooking the tranquil village of Lorton. Dating back to 1695 (as engraved on the fireplace in the kitchen), the cottage retains many original features but has been sympathetically modernised. The cottage resides within our farm, Terrace Farm with open countryside and panoramic views of the Lakeland Fells and numerous Wainwrights including Melbreak, Whiteside, Low Fell, Hopegillhead to name but a few. We have aimed to provide you with everything you need to make your stay a very comfortable and enjoyable one. The open plan living room/kitchen area provides space with the focal point being the woodburning stove set on a slate hearth. The kitchen is modern with integrated appliances including oven/ceramic hob with extractor over, dishwasher, fridge and wine cooler. The dining table has been made from Terrace Farm oak and sits beautifully within the room. The open plan continues to a utility area with washing machine, drier and a fridge/freezer. We have created a downstairs cloakroom and what was formerly the larder area with the original slate sconces these have been made into a fantastic store area/boot room. Leading to the bedrooms is a staircase made locally from Terrace Farm oak, there are three double bedrooms one having an en-suite shower room, these rooms have a raised ceiling exposing the oak beams. The third bedroom is currently shown as a twin but this can be a superking allowing three couples to stay at the cottage. The bathroom has a three piece suite with a shower over the bath. There is a private patio area to the front of Highside with plenty of space for dining al fresco and a hot tub for relaxing after a day of walking the fells. Being in an elevated position the views are outstanding and even at night the sky is filled with a million stars.
