Your family will be close to everything when you stay at this beautifully restored fisherman’s cottage in the heart of the quaint village of Staithes including the beach which is a 2 min stroll away. The ground floor has a well equipped kitchen and lounge with dining nook. The top floor has a double bedroom, a bunk room and a newly fitted bathroom. Outside is a small bench and table for alfresco dining or a peaceful glass of wine! Free WiFi and USB sockets and hairdryers available.
We had a wonderful relaxing few days in this beautiful little cottage. Loved the decor, attention to detail and the bed was so comfortable. It was so clean and tidy. The location was perfect,we only used the car once in the 4 nights we were as it was so beautiful where we were. Thank you Emma. Would highly recommend.
Emma was really helpful with the booking and responded quickly. Found the cottage easily and it was lovely and clean inside and well maintained. Everything we needed was there and the cottage was cosy and warm, we loved it! I was there with my husband, my 17 year old and 13 year and there was plenty to do. The village is lovely and the locals are friendly (a helpful fisherman helped us with our Staithes treasure hunt - download at Cluesgo website, a fun way to get the kids walking round Staithes, spotting clues and going down hidden alleys as well as the UK's narrowest street). I can't recommend Emma's cottage highly enough and we will definitely be returning!
Emma’s place was a cosy place to stay and well placed to explore North Yorkshire. Staithes is beautiful and the cottage is in the heart of the village. I enjoyed early morning walks with our dog down to the beach.
We had a lovely time in Staithes in Emma’s cottage. It is small but has everything you need, and the milk and wine in the fridge was greatly appreciated after a long drive! Emma was super helpful and responded quickly to my messages. We booked the Glenvale parking which was easy and very close.
Lovely stay in early July. Lucky with weather and still reasonably quiet. Really benefited from parking in town paying extra with link via Emma. Do read carefully the location, which is something I didn’t do and would have saved 20mins walking round looking! Blue Porch is an old fisherman’s cottage. It is really quaint, which also means it is small with very tight stairs and a single toilet/bathroom at the top. We came with parents in law as a late addition and it was tight with four adults, but we managed fine. The upper bunk in the second bedroom is tight for an adult. That said, the place is lovely, alongside Staithes, and we were lucky with both weather and peace away from school holidays. Plenty to do, Whitby of course, and we walked direct from the cottage to Whitby one day, and Saltburn another, back on the very regular X4 bus- quiet an experience - not with the Outlaws. Plenty of options for food. We tried them all at various times, inc @ home. Dotty’s was the best.
The Blue Porch is located in the old part of the village which has all you could want for your idyllic seaside break including lovely beach, great pubs and cafes, a treasure trove of a deli and traditional sweet shop, artisan craft centre, gift shops, Dotty’s vintage tea room, a fudge shop and Cobbles which serves ice cream, coffee, homemade sausage rolls, soups and on weekend evenings artisan pizzas.
At the top of the village there is another pub, fish and chip shop, playground, plentiful car parking, Co-Op supermarket and Staithes Smokehouse and Fishmongers.
Staithes sits in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, as well as being on The Cleveland Way and is close to the wonderful towns, beaches and restaurants of Saltburn, Runswick Bay, Sandsend, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Scarborough.
On the moors, as well as more walks, you can access sailing and windsurfing at Scaling Dam and visit the Danby Moors Centre.
All is of which means Staithes offers something for everyone!
There is only limited parking in the bottom half of the village but in the top half of the village there is Bank Top car park, and this is free October to February.
There is also a private car park which is pre-bookable online. Look up Glenvale parking in Staithes.
We also have a contact for a small number of parking spaces in the lower half of the village, which we can pass on, but due to small number of places this is not something we can guarantee.
