The property Fontanino is just off the main road (70 m away) which takes people to Siena, the biggest town nearby (40km away). It is 180m flight distance from the village, Monticiano. As such it is not the quiet private place, far from roads and noise, that I specifically booked and paid for. The property was sold to me as “isolated”, “1.2 km from the town” and with the only noise being “dogs from that village”. Those were the exact words given to me when I inquired about its distance from sources of noise and its suitability for me and my cat that lives outside. No mention of the road was ever made to me! I found the reality, so different to what was described to me, unacceptable, so I refused to check in. Instantly, I lost 300 of the 500 Euros I paid (just 7 hours earlier, on the same day of the reservation, without ever checking in) because such is the company’s cancellation policy. No amount of reasoning has helped me to recuperate the money I paid. The managing agent’s Lubea’s response was “You bought a product we sell, and it’s your choice to keep it or leave it, not our responsibility”. The owner of the property has done nothing to help me resolve the situation either. Understandably, I strongly advise anyone wishing for a better service and experience to stay away from this property and from the service of the agency that manages it. In my experience, the agency is not transparent, it tricks people into buying products that are different than advertised, and it is set on ripping people off, not on providing services requested and caring for their customers' satisfaction. Really nice house on the hill in front of the town. Amazing view and nice and big terrace. Just the separate couch bed is a bit small to for a third person to sleep there.
