The Lonnen is a beautiful and immaculate space, tucked at the end of a lane, with spectacular views to the hills and countryside. On arrival watch out for the many suicidal pheasants as you drive down the said lane! The room is very tastefully decorated and furnished, with many very thoughtful touches to make life comfortable. Ruth's breakfast are lovely, which we enjoyed whilst looking over the fields and hills, and sometimes being watched by a wren. The whole place is very clean, and is regularly cared for. There is outside seating that looks out to the spectacular Simonside Hills, with the means to have a fire at night whilst listening to the owls and enjoying the spectacular night skies.

Very quiet ....you can hear a pin drop! Great place to get away from it all. Good recommendations on places to visit ....we loved the town of Corbridge that we visited on the way home. Very clean and a lovely touch with providing breakfast .....would have been nice to put a face to Ruth’s name that’s all ....but I guess that’s down to Covid and Ruth s way of checking in .

Gorgeous place to stay for a bit of relaxing and quietness. Ruth was away when we stayed and she left us a continental breakfast instead, which was lovely and we couldn’t believe how much there was! It was so warm when we stayed, lovely to sit out on an evening. Rothbury is about a 5-10 min drive - with lovely pubs and restaurants. We had an Indian one night and an Italian- food was lovely! We did struggle for a taxi so I would recommend booking before you arrive if that’s what you want, but prices are about £30 return. I would recommend the lonnen - such a beautiful place and surroundings

Beautiful peaceful location, ideal for nature lovers and those who just want some R and R. Close to local amenities at Rothbury. We particularly appreciated breakfast in our room each morning. Thank you Ruth.

An absolute gem of a place. Off the beaten track, quiet and lovely accommodation with personal touches and everything you need for a getaway. We had breakfast and dinner outside in the beautiful surroundings and loved our stay. Holy Island is well worth a visit. There are so many lovely places to see from this location. We will definitely be back for another break!
