Feel completely immersed in nature enjoying your own space while conveniently located 10 min (6 mi.) to Santa Cruz hustle & bustle. Walking distance from Henry Cowell state park and UCSC trails. Be ready to enjoy hiking, mountain biking, walking or just relaxing in nature and on our lovely open decks. This is our year-round home- and we are willing to to share the joy it brings. Yes mountain life is unique and being away from cookie cutter civilization is great, but comes with entry barriers: We're Perched in the mountain where roads are winding and narrow. You will test your comfort behind the wheel and will discover that you can get your car closer to the edge of the road that you can imagine, specially when you need to share the road with oncoming traffic. Driving not for faint at heart :) Two social cats live here- Are you a cat lover? Let us know ASAP as we may have a special surprise for you. The cats stay in the house when you stay here. Please keep them indoors (they will try to escape). Living in the mountains immersed in nature is fantastic, but there are some factors to consider which work as entry barriers to keep us distant from the hectic town and city life: *The roads are a bit adventurous: a one-lane road, with some blind turns, a steep climb with some potholes, Driveway is steep and short. Driving will request you feel quite comfortable behind the wheel. Certainly roads are not for faint at heart. *Hill side home, fall and roll hazard :) , spiral staircase in the house. Your balance and mobility should be sharp. If you are concerned of babies, kids and adults tripping and falling, or are afraid of heights and hillsides you may want to consider staying somewhere else- but this is exactly what makes the views great! *As part of our secluded mountain lifestyle, we have a home that's equipped with a septic tank. This means we cannot flush anything down the toilets or sinks that is not toilet paper, and cannot flush anything that is antibacterial (as the system relies on bacteria to dissolve the solids in the tank). *Cell service can be spotty in the woods and on the roads that will take you here, but specifically in our house we are at the top of a hillside that happens to have excellent cell phone reception.
