If not there is ample street parking close by. Short Breaks: We have a minimum of 7 nights during peak season however we welcome short breaks outside of this.
Warm and cosy with a great kitchen and facilities. But it took us 40mins to drive to the PYG track up Snowdon which was longer than we had imagined in fact it was 30mins drive almost anywhere. There was also only a small co-op in the village though it did have all we wanted. The dishwasher was poor and we had to rewash a lot. Also the fridge had not been cleaned and the bathrooms and skirting boards were a bit dusty. Finally the exterior of the property and the garden were a bit worn. However the host was very helpful and we enjoyed our stay despite the rain.
What a beautiful house in a beautiful location. We went for a holiday with Grandparents, the accommodation was perfect. A really well stocked kitchen with everything you'd ever need. The garden was lovely and we even managed a few evenings in the garden despite it being May! Highly recommend this property as a base to explore Eryri.
Lovely cottage. Fantastic view from the garden! Definitely coming back to this cottage
Nicely done up place. not in a touristy spot but centrally located in Northern Wales. Excellent value for money
Fantastic house with no detail spared; fabulous kitchen equipped with absolutely everything, great shower, comfortable beds, super helpful folders with recommendations and walking guides, excellent outdoor space with B&Q facilities which unfortunately we could not use due to the weather, I am probably forgetting things but it was the best holiday let I have had. One thing to note that has nothing to do with the house but with the village: if you go out of season and without a car as we did, the options for eating out at dinner time are almost non existing. The cafes during the day are good though and you can always cook at home (supermarkets well stocked) and there are friendly pubs to go for a drink. But the best about the area are the walks, oh my! the walks are to die for.
Blaenau Ffestiniog is an historic mining town nestled in some of the most dramatic scenery in North Wales. The town itself offers a variety of shops, tea rooms, eateries and a small cinema. A key attraction, for many of its visitors, are its adventure activities, including ZipWorld Titan (the largest zip zone in Europe), Zip Caverns and Bounce Below (deep mine zip wires and the largest underground system of trampolines in the world!) Antur Stiniog's downhill mountain bike centre is less than a mile away and the largest mountain bike trail centre in Wales, Coed-y-Brenin, just a twenty minute drive.
Of course many come to enjoy the stunning landscape, walking, riding the steam train or tackling one of routes up Snowdon.
The coastal towns of Harlech and Criccieth, with their medieval castles, wonderful sandy beaches and hidden coves, and the Italianate village and gardens of Portmeirion are all reached in just 30 minutes, as is Porthmadog and Betws-Y-Coed.
The main access route to Blaenau Ffestiniog is the A470 road running north to Llandudno and south to Dolgellau and beyond. The A496 runs south to the coastal resorts of Harlech and Barmouth and connects with the A487 towards Porthmadog and the Llŷn Peninsula. Immediately to the north of the town, the A470 climbs steeply to the Crimea Pass and meets the A5 at Betws-y-Coed, giving access to Llangollen, Wrexham and Shrewsbury in the east and Bangor and Holyhead in the west.
Being surrounded by the Snowdonia National Park there is no shortage of stunning drives and walking routes, ranging from the challenge of climbing Snowdon itself to picturesque rambles on the beach.
Blaenau Ffestiniog has a train station and bus service and the famous Ffestiniog-Porthmadog Steam Railway starts its journey from the town centre.
