Take a load off (Fanny), in this calm, stylish lakefront cottage. Completely renovated and updated with care, this space offers modern cottage vibes and beautiful views. Enjoy the scenery as you lounge on the dock, or take in the lake with supplied kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes. Surrounded by snow mobile and hiking trails, and only a 30-minute drive to the slopes of Sir Sam's Ski, there is something to do every season. The cottage features a newly renovated, open-concept layout with exposed trusses giving a modern but woodsy cabin feel. Three bedrooms and a Beautyrest Queen-sized sofabed allow for eight guests to sleep comfortably. Cozy up by the wood fireplace in the winter months or chilly evenings. A large dining table and desk allows for guests to work during their stay. The space has a heat pump for air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter, along with supplemental electric heaters in the bedrooms and bathroom. The kitchen features all brand new appliances, including a dishwasher. A new Nespresso Vertuo is available for the coffee lovers. A washer/dryer is also in the cottage for guests' convenience. Even though the property is tucked in the forest, high speed internet and 5G cellphone service keeps guests connected during their stay. An Apple TV with Bell Fibe TV with Crave offers live programming as well as on-demand shows and movies. For the vintage enthusiasts, there's a VCR/DVD player with an assortment of VHS tapes. Board games and puzzles are also available as part of the entertainment setup. During the warmer months, the private dock is an ideal place for guests to lounge. Two kayaks, two standup paddle boards, two canoes, and a paddleboat are free to use. The BBQ can be accessed year round. The full-sized deck in some of the photos has been temporarily downsized, with plans to build a full wraparound deck in the future. Part of the old deck has been re-purposed for a covered outdoor area with an outdoor heater to sip a hot beverage on beautiful winter wonderland evenings. There's now an eating area near the BBQ under a netted canopy to keep the bugs out. There is also a lakeside deck with chairs. The outdoor firepit can be used year round, so you can Kumbaya to your heart's content.
It’s more than a cottage for a holiday, it’s a peaceful and pristine paradise. There are so many little things included that you feel truly pampered and special. Shaun is wonderful and his place is even lovelier than the photos. We LOVED our short stay and will book again!
Really nice place, i was worried that we went in the winter but shaun had another heating to keep the place warm. Great place recommended if you want to relaxe and dog friendly.
Shaun's place was exactly as described. Beautiful location with great views of the lake, extremely clean, tastefully decorated and very cozy. The beds were very comfortable with ample space for our family of 5. Shaun was a great host with clear and prompt responses. There were many little extras that made our stay very enjoyable. Would love to return in the summer to enjoy more of the outdoor amenities. Would highly recommend this property!!
We had such a relaxing time at Shaun’s cottage. It was very clean, cozy and well stocked. Shaun was an amazing host & responded quickly to any questions we had. Highly recommend to anyone that is looking for a peaceful secluded cottage experience while also having the luxury of wifi/upgrades. We also took a trip to Esson Creek Maple (just down the road) & got to tour their sugar shack, which we really enjoyed. Thank you Shaun!
Fantastic stay, went snowmobiling for two nights, OFSC trails are close by. The driveway is extremely steep as mentioned in the add, difficult to park a trailer or even trucks with the ice, no fault of the cottage just something to be aware of. However just down the road there is a great parking area. The cottage had absolutely everything you would need. Nice views, clean and comfortable.
The cottage is surrounded by dense forests and many lakes, located in the municipality of Highlands East, proudly the geocaching capital of Canada. There are six maintained hiking and multi-use trails in the municipality, highlighted by the Prospector's Trail that miners followed in the 1920s. Rare mineral tours are also a highlight of the immediate area. The Kingscote entrance point into Algonquin Parks is also just a 35-minute drive away. In the winter months, maintained snowmobile trails surround the area.
The town of Wilberforce is a five minute drive, and offers a Foodland, LCBO, and Agnews, a variety story with a little bit of everything.
